Okay, now for the fun part. Considering this is gonna be mainly for online play, I'm forced to wonder what you guys would take. I know a lot of people will be taking the guitar, a lot bass, but me? I've played the hell out of both of those IRL(though I suck at guitar)- but something I've just never had the money to finance(or the area to practice) was a drum set.

I'd so be a drummer, and model my entire ideal style around Jon Theodore- hatian, tribalistic drumming style of what most would call a sprint...but constant, unending, and all comprehensive. Less being just the beat behind a band, but truly being an instrument(if they have songs that lend themselves to that).


What instrument would you guys take?

    Same as usual probably- everyone else will just hear the track, while the main person just needs to match notes and tone.

    I know for a fact I will be buying the megapack or whatever the hell you need for all 4 players.

    I am very excited about this game.


    Won't be using the microphone myself though. I will not put another soul through that sort or torture.

    Probably lead guitar, since bass is going to be overused. Possibly drums, unless those are overused too. The microphone might be kind of rare.

    I am more excited about GH3 mainly because the non-guitar instruments don't interest me as much. Also price.

    In the end it'll depend on the song list to see which one is better(subjective).

    i played GHII nonstop for 3 days straight. LOVED IT.

    then i got to psychobilly freakout on hard and just said "what the fsck am i doing?"

    i haven't really played since :C

    ROCK BAND looks pretty cool, will probably cost a fortune though, and seems like harmonix is stretching this idea thin..

    Maybe I'm soured by such a blatant attempt at copying a newly-marketable 'genre', but I'm just not capable of really getting excited about this game...


    The song list seems pretty nice...except for the "yea, we've got downloadable content ready and everything!"...yea? Then why isn't it in the game to begin with? At this rate we'll be paying per line of code by 2015...

    i was in gamestop today and saw a sign for <a href="http://www.guitarherogame.com/gh80s/" target="_blank">this</a>, which ive never even heard of. where was all the publicity for this game? it comes out in less than 2 weeks and ive never heard a word about it!

    Also, the DLC isn't simply a blatent attempt to screw over gamers. While certainly it will be a big portion of revenue, we get a pretty good deal in return. They're planning on constantly adding new songs to Rock Band via DLC. Meaning bands they haven't signed yet or didn't have money budgetted for, and also songs that aren't even out yet. If you don't want the DLC, the game will still probably have 80 or so songs on it to begin with.


    6john: It's a new mini-guitar hero game that's Harmonix's last in the franchise (now that they're on Rock Band and Neversoft is doing GH3). It's really more of a 80's themed Guitar Hero 2.1, because it's the exact same engine with a few texture updates to make it look like it's in the 80's. Only 30 tracks too. However, the songs themselves do seem quite good, and it'll probably be cheap, so I'll probably pick it up.

    I'm guessing the only reason it got made is because of contractual obligations w/ RedOctane. It also may be a sneaky attempt to kind of sabotage the franchise, but that's pure speculation.

    according to websites ive seen rock the 80s will be 50 dollars, but still its another 30 songs which is basically all people want from new guitar hero games. and im sure there will be bonus songs too. ill end up getting it.

    I meant copy the workings of Guitar Hero and Singstar (and potentially some other crappy karaoke game as well), whether or not they created the initial franchise or not. It's nice that the GH guitar may (...or may not) be compatible.


    Maybe it was started by that GC game with the drums, I don't know.



    I'm not a socially interactive person, so it doesn't appeal to me as much as it probably should. I demand more reasons to hate it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
