Heh, I guess you are looking for something a little more like GitS or Bebop ;D

Black Lagoon looks pretty good. Maybe a little over the top (finger twirling an M79?). At heart though, I've always had a soft spot for gun worship animes. Thanks for the tip though, I've added that to my BT backburner.

I'm going to work on Haruhi next, I think. That may or may not work out.

Well, my suggestion, start with the second episode.

And forget the first episode ever existed ;D

I saw the first ep once, it was indeed pretty scattered.. So I've waited until now to check the rest out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

If it looked totally different from any anime? Yeah, it'd be a nice touch.

I thought this quote from that page was funny:
<i>The artwork. I’ve never seen so much detail and consistancy in my life.</i>
It has the same character design as every anime... detail my ######.

I'm generalizing, but I've seen screens and it doesn't seem any different.

You're exactly right. Examples of unique and well executed character design in anime worth mentioning would have to include, say..
    -Studio Ghibli films
    -FLCL
    -GitS
    -Jin Roh, for sure
    -Azumanga perhaps

Anime doesn't have to have innovative character design to be good (definitely doesn't need it to be successful...). People seem not to understand that. For instance, the guy who wrote that review.

i wonder why nobody comments on #9 Someday in the rain of the Haruhi series? imho that episode has a really long downtime which made me yawn. i dunno whats the point of having a live on reading for 3 minutes and 15 seconds?

    You skipped AKIRA.... shame!

I don't mind the overused pentagonal-jaw lines(And everyone has the same exact facial propotions), large eyes, ridiculous hair colors that go transparent in front of eyes and school girl outfits. But it's anime, the art should be unique and not copy the generic "How to Draw Anime" character designs.

Yeah Akira came to mind but I had to wrap up the post, I was heading off to the gym before it closed.

BM: I've done Gunsmith Cats :] My gun worship list is, however, dominated by manga.

edit: Just done with Haruhi ep. 2. Not too shabby there. I've always loved girls who are absolutely weird, anime or not. If FLCL ran 600 episodes instead of 6, I would have watched it just the same.

I chuckled at some of those lines. There were references to Glass Masks and Rose of Versailles. (Oooh yes, I watched those). But yeah, a bit boring.

So you're supposed to watch in the order they were aired on TV?

  • ZigZig ...I am Captain Planet&#33; Join Date: 2002-10-23 Member: 1576Members
At this point I have determined that
    1) In hindsight, having seen the actual series ending as the 6th episode is pretty sucks.
    2) Having seen the majority of the episodes before coming back to the first one (as the 11th episode), I loled several times, which I hardly ever do with anime. So, not all was lost.

    Series finished.

I seem to have fallen in love with this show since ep 12. The music bowled me over. I think I have caught the Haruhiism. Can anyone recommend me a doctor?

Has anyone checked out 'byousoko go centimeter'? only one episode (out of three) so far but I already love it. its another masterpiece from shinkai makoto (the guy that made Voices of a Distant Star, She and her cat, Place Promised in Our Early Days) in my opinion. I love the storytelling style and consider shinkai at least on par with miyazaki. (they have completely different appeals though)

    Also saw kanon ep 23:
I was slightly disappointed since very little actually happened. They also managed to incorporate a 2 minute clip show in the middle of it. The little that did happen was interesting at least though somewhat random.

    I'm looking forward to the last episode (for real this time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)

I also finished watching macross and enjoyed it greatly.

I also started watching code geass and then deleted it when i saw what's-his-name put on his zero costume

Seems i did a lot of anime watching this weekend and completely ignored the work i have due tomorrow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Watching Black Lagoon at the moment, about halfway through the first season. Who recommended it, I don't remember.. anyway, it's easy to enjoy. Thumbs up.

Well, as my sister put it.
Code Geass is what you get when you mix DeathNote, Gundam-SEED, and Tsubasa Chronicles

In short, "I can kill people with my mind, and we have cool mechs, we're skinny and full of angst"

It's a remake of the opening using the 2nd OP music from Blood+
Good stuff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Bit more tempo and action than the original OP

lmao thats perfect! I'm not a fan of 'perfect' characters like raito/light from deathnote who have no flaws, are geniuses, and beautiful, but the first few episodes were pretty good since i liked the mechs and art. then lelouch had to go and put on his robe and wizard hat and make it completely childish.

i may eventually give it another chance if i get bored enough.
