Re: Medspam and jumping ever going to be changed?
Visually, I actually agree that jump height should be less.
Go ahead and test it, a marine jumping next to another can jump high enough that his feet reaches the height of the marine's head..
I'm not playing the 'Needs to be combat sim realistic!' .. It just looks ugly Imo, almost glitchy.
Balance wise a marine needs to be able to jump over railings and skulks etc.. So if anything I'd keep the height but lower the animation position slightly.

Re: Failed to Start the Game (Missing Executable)
start up your steam
Go to your steam library
Find natural selection 2
Right click on it, Click on properties
Go to the "local files" tab
and Verify integrity of game cache
Note:
This works with ALL games installed with steam.

Minimal Infestation looks really bad
So since release, minimal infestation has looked like this.

Streaks and barcode like infestation textures cover every surface. There's been a few threads about some servers that have had an infestation bug causing it to look like this.

This is the greatest bug I've seen. It should be a feature.

Re: Version 251
Brreeeeaaatthheee.. *pats calmy*I am not looking for instant gratification, I am looking for a semblence of PROFESSIONALISM and proper IMPLEMENTATION from a business to its users. Is that so hard to understand?
Its almost been 2 hours.. while i'm sure you're refreshing the page, ready to intravenously pump some NS2 info.. it was more important to get the patch out right away for certain reasons.
I promise Hugh is working on it now and it will be coming soon - hopefully this doesn't stop you from getting in the game and enjoying it until then? Because that would just be horribly disruptive to your fix day, i'm sure.
edit: lol.. changelog posted 5 minutes before this post.
You are missing the point, Ironhorse. Instead of continuing with your backhanded insults, here what I would have expected in a post from a NS2 Lead Playtester:
Hi everyone,
Ironhorse here. Thanks for noticing the B251 has gone live. For certain specific reasons, it was important to get this patch out as soon as possible and it ended up going live on Steam before we could give you guys any information. Our normal PR/community manager Hugh has been backpacking in Australia for 2 weeks so he was unable to do a video this time. The actual changelog is quite lengthy and we wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything. This will be posted very soon in a front page news post.
After the B250 patch, we publicly stated our implementation of those changes could have been much improved. I apologize that so far B251 has not been any better. Having our valued users suddenly be unable to connect to servers and be generally confused after a patch update is not a customer experience we strive for. I appreciate your patience while we continue to improve.
Meanwhile, some of the servers have already been updated and there are some great new features, including improvement to placing cysts that I think you guys will enjoy. As always, please let us know of any bugs you find and we will do our best to squash them!
Thanks,
Ironhorse
See, now was that so hard?
Re: Version 251
Some games actually post a changelog/patch notes and make videos before a patch releases to let you know what to expect.
It's cray-cray I know.
A very tiny proportion of games, like Natural Selection 2, do not create a delay between the completion of a patch and its release. As soon as a 'Release Candidate' is deemed acceptable stable it is released.
The creation of patch promotion assets of NS2 before patch release is very difficult, because the patch can change (problem features removed, bug fixes rejected) right up until the release moment.
Of course, if you really do like the way other games do it, we could sit on patches for a week while we film them. But it our judgement that you prefer to be playing a patch, rather than watching pretty videos the moment it is released. Cray-cray idea, I know!

Fade's have been nerfed with blink.
Skulk butt jumping removed.
Pretty good balances atm.
Re: Sewlek's Beta Test Mod
Removed alien commander yet?
Re: Gorge Sprint Jump
Is this... is this a "Gorge OP" thread???....
Did it finally happen?

Re: Fade is absolutely stupid right now
If you take the shotgun and fade seperately they are fine. But due to TRES on aliens, PRES on marines it results in shotgun/fade balls. If you remove fade balls, you also have to remove shotgun balls...
NS1 was played with 1-2 fades max in 6v6, however this was balanced out by a marine commander not being able to afford 5 shotguns at the same time. Loosing your shotguns was devestating as was loosing a fade.
Remove alien commander, remove PRES for marines and problem fixes itself
Unfortunately I know that won't happen as UWE have set down on the alien commander and will loose face if they remove it.
The solution would be to force 1-3 alien players to use PRES to survive early game. If they didn't, then marines would have an overwhelming advantage. Same thing for marines, force them to use early pres to build or something i'm not sure.
The solution is to figure out a way to force players to use pres early game and not just save all pres for shotgun/fade.
