The map could be a giant reefback, sleeping for centuries, awaken again because of the Aurora crashlanding on it and the "planet" where all of this happens, is just a giant ball of water without any ground.

I think the comunity should be able to create new parts for the map and send them to UWE.
Then they can try to include the new part in the map of Subnautica.
So the map gets bigger and bigger and you can explore more and more. -
