It's not officially supported, so yes. They may or may not look into linux later, and if their past games are any indication, "later" means "after 1.0." They have released other games, such as Natural Selection 2, for Linux. -
Probably easiest, yeah, and fits perfectly with fixing the doors; you wouldn't be able to open them with the weight of the water against them anyway.

Well that wouldn't really address the issue. Walk into the launch bay, and now imagine the walls are invisible. That's the current situation. Flooding wouldn't help it, you'd still have the invisible walls. I'd say test it real quick and you'll bett…

Oh yeah, totally get that. That said, multiplayer is in the "would like to, but not worried yet" category, from what I understand. Long term plan. It happens, though, particularly when the cyclops runs out of power (which I've had happen.)

You know you can swap them out in open water, right? The panel is closed, you click it to open it, just like the storage boxes.

You don't need to replace a screenshot, just dump the picture into the folder. You can add all the custom images you want this way. My cyclops is covered in kittens ^^

I'd actually be pretty ok with a slightly slower tech progression. It makes sense that you get stuck with some rudimentary tools like a hand-held compass for a bit early on before getting to upgrade to the techier stuff.

That could be potentially interesting, though require a massive rework on systems. As it stands, the items are all distinct with their stats fixed; upgrading them doesn't modify the item, it replaces it with the other version.
It doesn't make sense for any of the items in question. You're not slotting in a mod on the tanks, you're rebuilding them with either lighter materials, or stronger ones (allowing higher pressure, thus more air in the same space). You're not slott…There's mention somewhere (forget where) that they're moving magnetite to be more easily accessible early-game for exactly this reason. I'm fine having to make it (since it's not just a compass, it's a piece of tech that integrates with the HUD), i…(Quote)
Never done a night dive. The question to ask is what serves the gameplay best. Between the amount of bioluminescent critters, and the need to see somewhat, the current state feels fine. If we were going realistic, even during the d…Regarding point 2, I believe that's the plan already, as well as adding more creatures that might only spawn at night. It's in the description of the game, after all.
As far as the length of the cycle, it does seem like they compressed …(Quote)
Halo 2 runs on the 64MB of the original X-Box, requires 2GB on Windows XP. Unreal Tournament 3 runs on the 256MB of the PS3, requires around 4GB+ on Windows 7.
Bad comparison is bad. Being able to optimize for a sing…(Quote)
Again, MSFT would never allow it. As far as needing to be nerfed or in any way diminished, not for a game like this. By its very nature, this game would do fine even on the previous console generation. Star Citizen, this game is no…(Quote)
They may well do so, but if they do they will likely 1) prohibit supporting PS4 (at minimum, prohibiting cross-platform multiplayer for PS4), and 2) require XBL Gold for PC players (this is what they did previously).

Nice to see they're working on it(Quote)
MSFT would never let them. But again, the only significant issues are gas toxicity and decompression, even at those depths. The upper limit before oxygen itself becomes toxic (and so, no matter what, we can't go lower without an enclosure held to a lower pressure) is about 20…Shoot me a pm to remind me to explain in detail on this thread (i'm on my phone), but no. In short, the current world record is 1090 feet. Pressure itself is not even close to being a factor at the depths presented in this game, gas toxicity and dec…That comes in with the map and sonar for the cyclops :-)
With a tether range of 100 metres or so, that gives a fair bit to scout ahead. Take out the seamoth, get down there, exit. Swim around. The way they make it sound, it will still ha…Limited air is coming either way, and I'm extremely excited for it. For this, though, I'm totally fine with it. It's hardcore mode, exercise some basic situational awareness.
Maybe I'm biased. I grew up on flight sims back in the 80s and…(I could go into more detail explaining pressure dynamics, but i'm on my phone)Yes and no. There's an upper limit, but we're nowhere near it. When I think of a medium size base I picture the rig from The Abyss. Everything is part of the larger structure, and one of the benefits of this is keeping the moon pool away from the su…I saw it more as a way to scout ahead and plan your dive, without having to worry about air. Especially with limited air coming to the seamoth (a change I'm extremely excited for! Only larger ships should have unlimited air, the seamoth cannot fit t…I see the argument, it's just a question of how realistically we want to model it. I'm inclined to think that if we wanted to be that realistic we wouldn't have the forced space between things and use square rooms instead to make a "solid" stricture…I hear you, I try to set up my moon pools similarly, to minimize the obstructions on approach. One easy fix (for the devs) might be to make it so if you have two corridors attached it doesn't grow legs (we can say the connected parts support it).
The trick is to build a foundation, a single i-corridor, and then something attached to it but not above the foundation. Now deconstruct the first corridor and the foundation. Now everything will attach to the object that's using struts into the gro…I get it's an example, but I can only speak to the example given. You're setting up something out of The Thing, and such types of things necessitate an ability to investigate and address them, which in this case means converting the air bladder to s…There's a difference between monsters in the wild and a base invasion. I could see something like the seamoth perimeter defense zap to ward off leviathan attacks, but what's described here doesn't really fit the tone.(Quote)
Probably a really easy way to do it, yep. The more I think about it, that's basically how the ROV should be modeled in my mind. Same speed as a seaglide, same power drain (so 0.5 units per tic, since power cells are 100 units and…
