SplatMan_DK
Geeky gamerdad, 43 years old, 4 kids, more computers in the house than kids, and a programmer-fiancé. I love my life :-)
Spent two decades making specialized LOB applications. Now, I work as a BI specialist, primarily SSAS cubes and analysis of financial data, discrete manufacturing data, and a tiny bit of consumer-oriented data (using Azure Machine Learning).
Own to small software start-ups that have nothing at all to do with gaming.
Occasionally addressed as "the old fart" at work, because my first computer only had 2K RAM.
Usually play as "SplatMan" or "SplatMan_DK". Because even though I love playing FPS games I totally suck at it, so I get splattered more than everybody else. My evil friends decided to call me SplatMan and in defiance I have chosen to wear that name with pride.

Just found this thread, a full decade after I created it. Fun to read old stuff.
It's fun to see. Steam has implemented pretty much what I proposed. The combination of paid DLC and Workshop items covers everything.
So, in con… -
It would be great to get a better overview of actual match times, and also if its possible to spectate matches with/without commentary.
Where can one go to see the match schedule? -

With a box that handles 16 physical threads and a pret… -
(Quote) Lots of great information; thanks.
Hmmm, I could actually host it from home by the sound of things ... I use a 20/10 Mb/s (actual speed 18,8 / 9,6) business line on a GSHDSL circuit.
But if the company accepts host… -
(Quote) Bandwidth? Whoa; that sounds very unusual. Normally network games won't take a lot of bandwidth. They're more sensitive to latency issues and dropped packets.
What bandwidth do you believe I should expect for each player?
(Quote) Sounds great; thanks a lot! I was just concerned after having read a few threads on NS2 servers that all seemed to focus very much on single-thread performance. The Server wiki for NS2 also still says the same. I might update that myself …Does anybody have experience running dedicated NS2 servers on older server-grade hardware, like a dual-socket Xeon 5620?

It has 8 physical cores with Hyperthreading and 8 SA…Warning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipb
