• It was verified 100% without any errors by Steam.
  Deleted the game and its settings and retried it.

• I'm having the same problem.
  I'm trying to start NS2 for the first time and it offers to optimize. I agree and it loads until it crashes with the same error.
  But unlike chrix, I'm not using anything like VirtualGL or Optirun.
