Add small leviathan looking things just to trick the player into thinking that that’s what the leviathans are in the game. But out of nowhere something much bigger attacks from inside the dark...

Something that enables you to make your own beacons/checkpoints. Then they could be removed manually by the player once reached or expire after a length of time. And if you are going to add a map they can place them on the map too

Photo album? You could add a camera so you can take pics of things or selfies and add them to your base.
Or it could be the scanner: When you take a picture of it, it scans it. -

Some dolphin like creature that swim and play with each other in pods. If possible, it’d be cool if they were tameable. If nearby, they could swim toward you and some interaction could happen!

I very much agree with these both, in fact it might even be a good idea to attach the deterrent to the sub to “scare” off the leviathan temporarily. -
