Its not enough. The ion power cells only hold ~5x more power then regular power cells (unless something has changed). You can get enough energy to charge those from a couple thermal plants.
-
The big problem is that you don't ever really need alot of power. If reactors produced 25 times more power than they currently do (which they should), then what would you use it for? There needs to be an end-game tech (like something to do with the …

I knew I saw a checkin on the 30th. Interesting.
I still think a scripting framework that allows for the "low hanging fruit" to be moddable could be done by UWE without major effort. I agree that adding "comprehe… -
@0X6A7232 It would be very difficult. The mod support approach above requires a DLL -- and I imagine all DLLs on XBox would have to be signed by UWE/MS.

@suspensionrailway Correct. And they made a check-in to the main trunk on Dec 30th related to this, so I thought it might be enabled now.

It all depends on what you are willing to pay. I would go with a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB - expect to spend around $150+.
If you are ok staying at 1080p and non-high textures, then you can drop to a GTX 1050 2GB for ~$100+.
Paying any less than t… -
PC release branch is on B81 (Dec 11), which is the "tiny update" release. UWE mentioned pushing this to XBox, which usually takes another week or so.
-
Please remember to not annoy players with saving if they just did it (in the last minute).

If I/O is the biggest issue on XBox, the terrain data should be compressed on disk. This would decrease bandwidth constraints considerably, at the cost of CPU and a small amount of RAM. On the One X, the beefier CPU would presumably be enough to off…

Earlier this year, UWE made a post about Modding Terrain. So the technology is still there. Given this, I expect it is still possible to do "terraformer like" act…

From a neutron-absorption/malleability/reactivity perspective, lead and gold are generally equivalent. However, gold is much more conductive. So, depending on what it is doing in the reactor rod (most likely as a radiation shield or regulator), they…

Granted. But a high level exception handler with an informational popup is not hard to do.
-
So presumably there needs to be an error message (or other visual feedback) displayed to the user when a delete fails. Silent failures are always bad.

My 3 year old MSI GE60 laptop runs Subnautica fine at 1080p (30-40fps). It certainly isn't "awesome", but it works fine with a few hitches.
P.S. An SSD helps tremendously with reducing hitching. Although, UWE has improved stuff recently … -
Its my understanding that VR development has resumed (it was left behind for a while to focus on the regular PC build). However, its unclear if it will be "ready" by the ~January release date.
Certainly UWE intends to stick to its plan t… -
The first game says 500k - 1million installs. At even .1 cent per ad served, thats quite a bit of cash for doing nothing.

I'd like to see at least a "Preview Release" before Christmas - and could hopefully be officially listed as feature complete, with some polish and performance issues remaining.
-
On Oct 5, the latest XBox changes (including build 79) were checked in to the main branch. Since the team is now focused on general performance issues (and not XBox-specific ones), I expect an XBox incremental release (bringing XBox up to B79) shoul…

I thought the EU law was that you only need to notify of the impending price increase at least 30 days in advance. In fact, I think increasing the price now, when you have actually only given one or two days warning, is what the law actually …

Currents were in the semi-implemented feature list but appear to have been cut for the impending October release of Subnautica.
I agree they would have been cool if finished and done properly. -
Texture quality on XBox is generally the same as PC. However, performance (lag/fps) is not. UWE has stated multiple times in their latest posts that performance is not currently acceptable, and that they are working hard to address those issues. Wha…

I've been hoping for a nod like this for a very long time. I hope to see more of this kind of thing once SN stabilizes. 3rd party modding is what keeps many single player games alive post-release.

As of the Jul 15 (perhaps earlier), it appears that the development branch of the Subnautica XBox code is again taking direct checkins. This means that they have merged the "bug" fix and the "unity 2.6" changes to the main development codebase, and …

Install Subnautica on an SSD

For anyone interested, here is the main trello issue related to this task. Looks like Max is working hard. Stinks that UWE had to do a custom Unity build…

If multiple hits in succession is the problem, the solution is simple:
Only allow up to 1-2 "hits" of damage per second on any vehicle. -
I concur with garath. It is usually bad drivers or the system is overheating causing hardware problems.

The closest task I see is about vr/xbox font size on the PDA. Hopefully, they will evaluate the PDA distance at the same time.
