the great thing about Tenebrea over a lot of other Q1/Q2 reworks is that it manages to keep (and maybe even enhance) the "feel" of quake. so many others make it look and feel like Quake3 (not a bad thing as such, but q3 is just a little clean for me) or just end up sterile and just not gritty enough. when i get my new computer i'll investigate tenebrea a little more.

i prefer sulq2 for q2 since it has sexy pixle shading, lasersight for q2 gloom, shadows, png textures, md3 support, and oh much more

Just wait for Hl2.
• SelbstmordSelbstmord Join Date: 2003-03-02 Member: 14222Members
HL2 has bump mapping, luma, specular maps and stencil shadows, but no realtime per pixel lighting, so HL2 isn't really comparable to Tenebrae2, but it does however run smoothly on a very "poor" computer, which means its much more optimized compared to for example, Doom 3 (the optimization is one of the reasons Doom 3 isn't out yet, or nearly finished)
• SWAT_PointmanSWAT_Pointman Join Date: 2003-10-05 Member: 21458Members
I never played any of the quakes cuz I had no intrest in gaming after I played doom 2 but I got back into gaming when HL came out.

Yes, some of the guys from Activision (among outsiders, too) are testing it as we speak, although they had a guy testing it on a lower end computer (under 1 ghz) and it went like fair and square SHEIT, so they are trying to find out a way to optimize/customize the rendering/shaders so that it doesnt look completely different from the high quality gaming experience, so people with lower end computers can play the game too, regardless of the graphics, but more because it's DOOM 3!...

ontopic:

Very nice hud!

----------------------------------------------
offtopic:

When I finished Quake1, and started with Quake 2 I found it to suck, the weapons/the maps/the creeps, Quake 3 was a bit better, but I was not very happy about the fact they made it an arena game.

Quake1 is the best imho.

Personaly quake2 was my favorite, even though it could of used a bit more engine tweaking. Quake4 is suppose to be alot like Quake2, but using the Doom3 engine.

What the hell? You mean you judged Quake2 by the single player game? Sheesh...

That's like judging Half-Life by the single player game only. These two games share one thing in common. It's the multiplayer gaming that makes these games. Oh and download Action Quake2. You can actually get Action Quake2 to play without the Quake2 installation by using the Quake2 demo, if you don't have it anymore. And it even works on linux. Quake 3 is incredible in my opinion, especially when playing a LAN game with OSP. It's just something that ie. CS can never achieve. Nor NS actually, but NS is on a whole another scale. Or actually I don't know about the NS: Combat thing, I haven't bothered to install those beta releases of NS yet. Maybe I should.

Ok I didnt do the multiplayer thats right, but why did they make a singleplayer that was worse than the singleplayer of Quake?!

i think quake 2 was awsome just because it had gloom (some of you might not have any idea what this is just think ns but older)

Gloom>action q2

if it wasent for gloom, i would of:
1) given up on computers
2) never got the fule to want to customize
3) never ever want to play half-life/ get to play ns

too bad q3 gloom got cancled

btw gloom is almost dead up like NS, but with a Q2 engine and "build your bases any possable way you can imagine"
