Hi, I'm MasterMike, General of the Marines in Battle for the Galaxy. I know most of you have checked out our site, and have been discouraged to join due to the fact that you saw money was involved. BftG is currently in it's Beta Campaign, and therefore, thoughout the entire campaign, it will be free. The campaign has not yet started, however it will be starting in the next week. I encourage everyone to go over there and register. We've has one scrimmage already with outstanding results. It's all pure fun.

Basically, you join a server which is part of Battle For The Galaxy, and you fight. The fights on each server will last up to 12 hours. They will then take the winners of that server (marines or aliens) and combine that with the winners of all the other servers. Thus, the race with the most server wins is Ruler Of The Galaxy.

It's really fun and the guys are cool. They use TeamSpeak during battles and practices so the voice clarity is amazing. It is very well organized.
You should sign up right away.

How well we find out what servers and at what times the games are goin on?
Id like to contribute to the game, but im not a hard-core player and so hope nothing is expected of me.

Honestly though just edit it out or something, rather than catch any flak for it. (There was an official rule against it made not too long, after people started posting "newbie friendly" servers, which turned into a "Bash unfriendly servers" thread, sorta.)

6th...I thought it already started the campaign I guess i was wrong...But even when it starts its still free right?
Subscribed to that thing last day, for free beta/trial (once we have to pay for it, ill just leave...) I think they better go for a ad/donation system or i <i>really</i> doubt there will be enough players...
The site is.. well.. beta. Pain to register (kept asking me to enter a state even if i did). You can't click on anything on the "galaxy map" yet (it takes you to a blank page, duh). Atm there's no nice page with a good layout for stats, apparently they just use psychostats. I see nothing to block players from making two accounts with different emails/steamids <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> , one of each side, and read strats of the enemy in the "private" alien/marine forums (i'm pretty sure the steamID doesnt even have to be valid, they probably just check for duplicate ids).
We'll see... this can be fun if they take care of it, but it seems they are somewhat slow (figured that by reading their forums). For now it seems its just a big asp/php/flash mess, and some semi-organized NS passworded matchs. But you don't know who you are playing with, and a lot of ppl have the server pass so i guess it will be like playing on a public server.

Even if i sound negative (this is a "beta", after all.. ok), i really hope they'll be able to have a nice game in the end and i wish them good luck.
About Admins: The admin abuse on our servers has been dealt with.
Practices: The practices are pretty organized, passwords don't get out, and all of the Marines understand what theya re doing
Campaign: When the campaign starts, you will NOT be required to pay. Maybe after the first campaign, but we are still looking into that.
industry points. i read the manual but i still have no clue.
will it be able to buy lets say a heavy armour squad or special buildings for the maps? before you even start? to display that the rines/alien have a big base there.
lets say if the rines won the planet before. will there be counterstrikes? i guess so. if there are counterstrikes...will the aliens be dissadvantaged in this case?
i think the battlefield 1942 game had something were you were able to buy tanks and aircraft before the battle started. so sometimes it got really hard for the other side if they didn´t use enough resources in this sector. will there be something like this in battle for the galaxy too?
this would make the whole thing very exciting for me. but as i said the manual didn´t give me the answers. Perhaps I just didn´t read the part. could anyone explain it to me? or show me where to find the answers?

at the moment the alien team needs more members and any alien vets should get ova there, there are gettin owned quite a bit.

Seriously, we need you guys. We're so outnumbered during battles it isn't even funny.
I had to take on five marines by myself for about half an hour.
The team limit for each side in any give battle is 50% of the servers available slots
Your servers seem to be running 30 players normally. 15v15 games? Marines will have a HUGE amount of the wins, as long as they have experienced comms. Also, what will decide who is comming for what team?
anyway, sounds like a great idea, I'll sign up...
1) I tried to join once a couple months ago, and the registration simply refused to work.
2) I don't have that kind of time on my hands anymore.
3) This late in the tryouts, it's unlikely I'd get a comming position, which is what I'd really like.
4) I've been having trouble with my mic lately anyway.
So, bleh.
