i am led to believe it is based on a true story? but the term 'based' is used loosely.

i was very impressed one thing REALLY annoyed me.

Story was *decent* (using the word in the loosest sense possible). Acting was horrible. I'm usually a big fan of Mr. Willis' work but this was a giant letdown. I didn't expect much from the start seeing as it is a war movie. But I would like my rental fee back!

I don't like action movies where the hard guys suddenly start going and acting on their feelings. The girl seem like a very spoiled kid who wanted to stay a little longer at some childrens party.

It's so silly, and the big bonus when suddenly they have to protect some stupid farmers becuase the spoiled brat wanted to have them.

"I want that, and that blah blah blah blah" In the middle of the moive I dreamed of punching her in the face and leave her in the jungle with her farmers to rot.

This is a BAD BAD BAD movie. Only view this if you get PAID.

Best part of the movie in my opinion is when they are near the border finally and being chased by half of the frigen army and the Navy's airpower comes in and just lays waste to the place with strafing (sp?) runs with what looked like napalm or just really big (probably 2,000lb) bombs. hehe, btw I cant remember cause I havent seen it in a long time, but those planes, werent they harriers?

I had to turn it off it was annoying me so much. I couldn't stand watching them literally standing in a field trying to fight. There was one part with a sniper, and one of them got shot, ok, he tells everyone else, and everyone continues to stand up as high as possible. Why the hell did no one in that movie take cover, or get low, they all stood as tall as possible throughout all the fighting, it was annoying.

Not much of the movie seems realistic, and the story is fairly drab (...in fact, all it has going for it for me, was that the girl in it looks like someone I knew <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /> ). If you watch the commentary, <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /> , they'll tell you how they thought they were doing a relevant piece on the diplomacy and human treatment in much of Africa. They even have the SEALs guy say how he tried to make the American commando guys as realistic as possible.

It's an okay movie...it reminds me of those 50s movies about WW2 where John Wayne charges up Omaha beach, pulls a grenade pin out with his teeth, and just generally kills every nazi around....with a broken ankle <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /> .

I don't like War movies, aside from the action, because usually Americans are stereotyped as invincible war machines...the only time a team gets wiped out is if it's obvious: they were warned the terrorists are defending a place, they're minimal plot characters, and we need to make the enemy in the film a scapegoat for their death...

Like Band of Brothers: In WW2 the german army was feared as an unstoppable force sweeping across Europe. Never in that entire movie did it look like the Americans were losing (even the battle where they lose: They're killing germans left and right...oh no atank....*blam* *blam* *blam*...more germans die....and then eventually all the American's are together and someone says "I hate losing a fight." or something....up until then I didn't even know they were [censored]ing losing.

Errr....yea, Tears of the Sun: lady, while playing a bad part acts fairly good for it...everyone else sucks...Willis is okay...but still acts it bad. He should just go make Die Hard 4 (...or 12, if you watch the Ben Stiller Show).

...And again, the movie is okay if you don't try to take it overly realistically. There are plenty of problems with how they're acting or what they're doing, or just political/military problems. I liked the movie, although it was unrealistic. They would have just left those people there to die if it was real life.

At the start of WW2 the German army was feared as an unstoppable force sweeping across Europe, but that was at the start of the war - not in the final stages. And even then in BoB they have a hell of a fight on their hands all the time.

D-Day, Easy lands, attacks convey very succesfully, attacks 88's in what is now a famous military encounter. I personally apologise for Easy company being so successful - but that wont change the fact that it happened. Band of Brothers is based on the real life stories and events suffered by Easy company - when an Easy company man dies in the film, that means he died IRL.

When Easy company attacks a town and takes it over with minimal losses - that means IRL they attacked said town and took minimal losses. BoB constantly shows Easy company men and other Americans being shot and killed and wounded. Its constantly referring to the losses the company suffered. They attack Carentan on D-Day plus 1, lots of scenes showing americans being mowed down by MG fire, getting sniped, getting blown up in booby traps, getting shelled. They then move out, have a fight with a German paratrooper division, and when German panzers show up, seriously look like they are going to lose. The main character in that episode starts out as a coward, finally finds his feet and then gets shot in the throat to die later on in hospital. In the same episode it shows an american soldier bayonetting his officer by accident.

Then when the americans get thrashed in operation market garden, they get totally pwned by german tanks. Lots of retreating, several Easy men die.

Then comes Bastogne - pretty much two episodes showing americans either having the crap shelled out of them, getting ambushed by an mg, accidentally killing themselves with looted lugers and dying while medics try to help them. Then they attack a town, and heaps of Americans drop like flies because of an incompetant officer. They manage to take the town, and then 5 of them get sniped while celebrating. It even shows an American soldier trying to dig a foxhole with his own bare hands he was so out of his mind with terror.

I think my points been pretty well made. BoB is definately NOT an "Americans are invincible fighting machines" movie. Easy company didnt often lose - but thats histories fault, not the screenwriters. The entire 10 series is full of Easy company men dying, getting blown up and having horrible things happen to them. Its crazy and its ignorant to call it unrealistic because they rarely lost.

Suggestion - rewatch the series and tell me if it looks like Easy company are laughing their way through the entire German army.
