It just made the Q3 Rocket Arena people happy. What's the point with Fades all stood at the edge of base, scared to go in because they <b>might actually have to risk themselves</b> and spam, prolonging a 20 minute game for another 30 which would be over in seconds if all of them had the sense to charge in and get the claws going.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Ok, well if they were scared to go in and risk themselves then, I, personally, fail to see any reason for them to go in now, when if they die they give marines RFK. Hurting the alien team just as much as before, but now giving the marines a res boost, while claiming little for his/her self to make up for it. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    He's not complaining that it was too dangerous for the Fades to go in, he's just saying that in point of fact they DIDNT go in when they really should have, because it was just easier to stand outside. I didn't play 1.x long enough to know for sure if he's right or not, but it sounds reasonable.

    It actually WAS safer in 2.x than in 1.x to charge in as a Fade, because 54 res creatures don't care a whole lot about 2 res RFK, and 2.x blink is more effective than 1.x for maneuvering in tight spaces. However, once they were there, it was often very difficult for them to stop dodging long enough to attack without getting pasted. Then when the 3rd Hive rolled around...1.x Fades would proceed to wipe out the entire marine base in under a minute with their new, hugely damaging, huge splash Bile Bombs, while 2.x Fades finally have the option to do what 1.x Fades had been doing the whole time, and stand outside and mostly just annoy marines with Acid Spam, doing very little to the base but pinning all the marines inside on defensive chores so the Aliens can easily overrun the rest of the map uncontested.

    3.x I again haven't played enough to offer a definitive opinion, but its more similar to 2.x than 1.x...the base breaking ability of Acid Rocket has been reduced still further, while their ability to charge in and win through melee is somewhat higher because of their much greater HP.

    .....

    But I do see where you are coming from. Lately, I've been seeing MANY great fades. They blink in, kill a marine or two, and blink out. By either the marine's lack of aim, or the fact that it's just harder to hit a Blinking fade, they seem to take little damage along the way. But on the other side of things; the learning curve to do that, is (imo) enormous. While the good fades manage to get the RFK to pay for another fade should they die (and then some), the others blink in, and die to grenade spam before they've had a chance to even enter the learning curve.

    ........... <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    It is ENTIRELY worth ascending that curve though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> The feeling the first time you blink in, let them fire, blink out, they stop firing and as they stop you come screaming back in, gut two and then blink out is absolutely <b>AWESOME</b>

    <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Entirely reccomended, everyone should keep at it until they do.

    The only change I'd like in the Fade now would be to (maybe) nerf it's hp/arm a bit, but make blink cloak you for the duration of the move (not instantly, just a <i>fade</i> to invisible & back again) to match the description & original background.

    Ok was just playing around with mp_drawdamage on, and I realized something. The new acid rocket does 25 damage. Gorge spit does... 25 damage. Wanna guess which one actually fires FASTER?

    So next time you wanna do some good AR spam, save your 50 res and go gorge instead.

    And if anyone mentions splash damage, I'll laugh at them giddily. Splash damage is about 5 or so if it's an inch away from the target.

    Not to mention Gorge spit is 0Hive while AR is 3Hive...

    I've actually been having a lot of fun as Battlegorge in CO lately. I don't bother getting web until level 7 or 8...Adren, Gorge, Celer, Cara, Regen, Bile, Web, Redemp, SoF in that order. Not the most terribly menacing choice, but it helps.

    Not only should you go gorge, but get focus as the gorge, your spit will deal 50 per whack

    Instead of going fade to acid spam them, do this instead as a gorge:

    - Get focus
    - Celerity
    - Carapace

    Build up a wall of lame near their base, then start to run to it and any marines you spit at, and launch some bilebombs, meanwhile as soon as you take some damage just retreat to the wall of lame.

    Works wonders tbh and focus spit is really good

    Lots of misinformation in this thread. Let me clear a few things.

    Rocket damage:
    1.0 = 60
    2.0 = 50
    3.0 beta1 = 50
    3.0 beta2 = 25

    Acid rocket was made 40 sometime during the 2.0 beta and then brought back to 50.

    Anyway, I hate this new acid rocket for the fact that it takes more time to deal the equivalent damage of the old acid rocket. RoF would have to be halved as well to make it = old acid rocket, but more fun.

    The old acid rocket was cool because before you closed in you could quickly lob 2 of these for 100 splash damage to blow away any armor they have.

    Tonight I was playing aliens on caged, went fade. Acid rocketing HA does so little damage they are best off just ignoring you, they didn't even bother to try and do anything about it - with armor it hardly hurts you. I'd like to see a 3rd hive ability for fade that actually is worth something... give us the old acid rocket back, or something else please.
