Here's a rough Babel Fish translation of a bit that suggests a disgruntled ex-employee (are they ever gruntled?) tipped the police that pirated software was in use: "According to first estimations of the police Crytek used illegally software for play production and caused thus a damage within the six-digit range. Evidence was placed already surely. The law guardians had become attentive by the reference of a former Crytek coworker."<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Woah. You'd think they could afford to buy software ;/

And people wonder why so many warez or don't buy games at all.

    I would die of laughter.

/me hits self with brick. Why can't I get excited over Half-Life 2, dammit?!

So, they won't finish Far Cry? I got the demo - the graphics and engine (at least outdoors) were great, but the voice acting was some of the worst I've ever heard, the story seems generic, and the "brilliant" AI was stupid compared to the grunts' in HL and the Covies' in Legendary Halo. No innovation, so I really won't care if that game goes under.

I know about 14 year old schoolboys who get a warez MS3D to start modeling something for private use or for their friends, but a freaking retail software company? That's mad!
Personally I really liked the demo of FarCry and I would actually buy it if it came out. I hope it WILL come out <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well, you -could- be legit and BUY a 3,000 dollar copy of 3Dstudiomax... or you could put that money towards something more constructive: COFFEE AND A GOOD COFFEE MACHINE.

    The choice is obvious.

I hope if Farcry ever comes out, they keep it so you can hide in bushes and pick them off one by one without being immediatley spotted by all of them at the same time.

since it is quite clearly using a modified doom 3 engine i sincerly doubt its using the stolen half life 2 beta source code (now in sale at russia and dodgy websites) this said the games near finished and probebly will still ship if there were using ilegal software they could always use a scapegoat such as a disgrunteled ex employes tried to set them up or something <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Any one knows what for software they found? i supose they were using some oracle DB servers, visual net or so and other expensive software (3dsmax etc), that can be very expensive very fast

theese guys made a tech demo few years ago, to demonstrate the pixel shader effects, then they decided to make a whole game by using the same engine.

and i think it is very dumb for a company to use warez ....
but we know how angry some ex employees can be... so it could be some act of revenge, it is not the first time we hear about such things.
even if they found nothing, crytec is ruined. they will need long time to explain everything and kill all rumors...

It ran perfectly well on my not-really-cutting-edge machine (1.1GHz Athlon, 512MB PC133 memory, GeForce 4Ti, Win98). But then, Halo runs nicely too.

Is my PC filled with magical sparkling performace-o-matic dust?

but some times rumors are a good way of getting avertising an example is were all felling sorry for crytech now or this could be an elabrite scam to hide a dealy, an example of this is when pepsi spread rumors about coca-cola and about bpputting tooth in a class of it and it would disolve etc, this bacfired and made coca-cola even more famoues becouse peep simple didnt care couse it tated nise. Farcry looks nice and this is spreaden through the worlds press like wild fire so do you think far cry will be alot more well knowen now?

I have nothing against warez mostly, because most people simply can't afford industry standard tools like 3dsmax, but when professional companies do it... sad :\.
