I'm sticking with the story ideas and going with 'Onos'.

Of course, technically one Onos should be 'Ono', but thats an even bigger mess I think we should avoid.

There weren't four Marines that said "Oh ni", although that would be a pretty funny situation. Onos just sounds better overall, and its really not that hard to say how many Onos you see/saw.

Flayra stated that he calls it Oni, but we may call it whatever we want.

Personally, I like Onos, as Oni reminds me of this one game, and also I believe it is demon in a foreign language. It also sounds nicer, as well.

Considering that there is an error in the quote you have (using "marine's", with an apostrophe when it is just plural), it can't really be used to show what the technically correct form of anything is, since it could simply be another error.

I am personally a fan of changing the official onos name to "Spacecow", as has already been suggested in this thread. Then there are no problems, nothing to debate, since we merely pluralize "cow" <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

Failing that, oni all the way, mainly because the difference between a single onos and multiple oni is so great. Onos = killable. Oni = doom.

technically, no one. There were a bunch of PTs and an onos came into thier base, and they all said "oh no"

since nobody made up the name, nobody can say if it is oni or onos.

Jeff Paris said the plural of Onos was Onos, only to have Flay refer to them as Oni the next day.
