Uh, no. See, "Oni" is the closest thing to Demon in a language from "Onos." Besides, don't you watch anime? If it can rip through a hundred men and destroy a building, they begin asking if it's a demon. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
if you compare the word to similar words in the english language, you might come to the conclusion that onos=plural and oni=singular like the word cacti/catcus get the drift?
"look out for the sheep!" no? and the same for the onos, i think <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I use "onos" as both plural and singular (kinda like the word "moose"). It really annoys me (I'm a grammar nazi kinda guy) when I hear some 9th grader say "I'm going ono" on the mic. At least that's not even an option in this poll.

I say onos, because plural things ending in -i, have to be of latin origin, and if those things are in singular, they end with -us, not -os. I say onos because it's literately correct.

For the latin comments, I remember two threads where the conclusion was, if Onos was latin, the plural form would be Onus. Rip on Flayra for not including onus in the poll.
The rules of the english language are not set in stone. There are exceptions, many more then other languages which is why it makes such a difficult yet versatile language to learn.
Umbra, are you just stupid? I'm not forcing any religious, Japanese, or anime meaning into it. This is just what everyone was saying when this debate popped up back in 1.0.
I voted Onii because that is what I use, but after I saw Fletcher's very persuasive drunken-irishness, well I want to change my vote! Long live the revolution! (If it is still alive...)

With that sentence I would use Oni to imply there was more than one. However, I might say something like "I saw three Onos around the corner" since the number already designates how many there are. To be honest, I initially felt that "Onos" was the plural for multiple Onos/Oni, but recently I've been using Oni more frequently due to the reason stated above.

Onos is a made up word without any roots in Latin or Japanese. It isn't really part of the english language. You can pluralize it however you want and nobody will care. There's nothing more to it than that.
