As much as this stuff inspires me, it also makes me depressed.

So your art skills are slowly progressing, you come to the ns forums for inspiration, and looking at the works of Deunan, mirage, and kyle, make you feel totally wowed, but then you cross stuff like this accidentlly...

    I hear that.

I keep trying to learn to draw myself, but inevitably I run into the uber artists and just get discouraged.

What in the heck was the point of this post? Meh, I don't feel downtrodden about anything along the lines of art. Hell, I know where I stand. I draw for fun! So should you.

Edit: Also I'd like to add that those are some nice sketches, but I prefer this one.

some people try for realism (as seen from above)

and some people, try for unique...

everything that i've seen on these forums, falls under the unique catagory....

I'm a good Artist, those picture's are hella impressive, but I don't care for realism, so I'll stick with Anime. I thought they were real, and I looked to the Smith to the left in the second picture.

I rarely find myself put down by better artist, it does frustrate me how they have the tools to excell their abilities, and i yet i have to wait until i get the tools to beable to enhance my art... (visual mirage you know what im on about )

i find the more i see art better than mine, the more determined i want to be as good as them adn the more i try,, thus inspiration i guess....

Well, we all have our own talents. Kylie does b*tch'n animals, VM does his thing, and Owen and I handle the gun concept department. When you combine it you get a nice little community.

My biggest problem: I draw too slow. When you spend like two hours and your work still looks like nothing; you just want to stop and give up completely. I'm still trying to find a way to circumvent that...

First picture... I... just... don't see any evidence of a pencil at all. Would most definetely have liked to see that picture in its earlier stages.

I personally prefer paint to charcol and pencil, and often find by self sketching with pens. I just do not like the feel of pencil its wierd.

That first pic is a drawing but done using a technique that I don't like. I'll explain. First you take a photo and draw a grid over it making sure every little box is identical in size. You then draw an empty grid on your blank paper but keep the measurements in proportion to that of the photo. Now all you have to do is copy what is in the first little box of the photo exactly to your paper. Instead of drawing a whole image you draw it slowly box by box like a puzzle. If you enlarge that first image you can see the dude's boxes. This is how they used to do Highway signs back in the day. The second pic is just awsome. If I had the time I would do some more stuff like that. I did portraits of Jack Nicolson from the Shining, Frank Sinatra, and Einstein. If I can find 'em I'll post. I lost alot of my portfolio because I had to move from house to house for a short time.
