<div class="IPBDescription">Wanna read?</div> Today, I went to my friends house and installed NS there. Anyway, I was still playing the WON version of NS and as I updated and refreshed the list of NS Servers, I saw a particularly attractive server which name starts with <span style='color:red'>**DELETED**</span> , that server had 16/18 players. As I joined the game, I forgot to change my name and thus, my name was Player.
As usual, the moment i joined any game, I would say "Hi all". I did and I received the responses "Hi" , "yoz noob" , "lolz, noob" , "hello Newbie" etc........I realised I forgot to change my name but decided to stick with Player anyway.
I was on alien and the others had 2 hives and MC & DC. First thing I did, Celerity+Regen Skulk. The map was NS_Origin and I started from venti hive. I went to the 2-Res area and 3 marines happened to be climbing down. I killed them faster than I believed and immediately, a dark aura seemed to fall over the game.
The 3 whom I killed were taunted with "wahahha, pwned by noob! " , "wah! the noob si be "elite"" Following up, I killed a total of.......9 marines and died once. I couldn't be sure of how many I killed as my frags weren't displayed. By that time, I was actually second top position and many marines couldn't hold it any longer. "CHEATER!!!" "HACKER!!!" were some of the names they called. I ignored them and went on to the marine spawn which was unguarded except with poorly positioned turrets and 2 ammory humpers.
2 more kills for me and I took down the marines Arms Lab and half-built Prototype Lab.
Before I realised it, the whole server were shouting "CHEATER!!!" and "Speed hacker!!!" or so on. Almost immediately, I was kicked back to the servers list screen with the words "You have been permeantly banned from........".
Usually, I don't perform so well or get so many kills in such a short while so I guess I must had been real lucky that time.
I want you guys opinions on this..............

Honestly, if you were doing that well as an NSPlayer on any of the servers I admin, I'd end up spectating you for a bit, and if I felt that you were, in fact, cheating, then you'd receive the same ban. If not, I'd simply ask you to set your name to avoid future problems.
A) Brand new (an offense to some people, gg hypocrisy)
or
B) Fakenicking (Not an offense per se, but socially considered deplorable)
It will always happen, there's little that can be done. Avoid that server, move on is your best bet I'm afraid.

nxt time play on CD servers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Considering that a pub server sure to have regulars that consider that server to be thiers and when a newbie pops on they may either a) be unfriendly or b) help out the newbie , now how would you feel if a newbie popped on 'your' server and proceeded to 'own' everyone ? You would think a skilled player is fakenicking you or a player is trying out new cheats.
Not being nasty ... just my take on the matter - I know on the server I frequent such behaviour would be frowned on as we tend to try assist new players, and pretending to be a newbie would annoy us as well.
not sure whether it was my connection mucking about or theirs, prolly mine tho <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> . the point is, how can you tell if someone has a mild cheat or a problem or is just really good at guessing where you're hiding etc ? (not saying it cant be done, just asking how to do it for my own benefit <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)
Only if the alien stays perfectly still, I believe.
<!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> cool... Aimbots can though, since they aim at player coordinates(well, most do. Colour aimbots don't but those are ancient, they use coloured models and then scan the screen to find that colour, read a story about some TFC player that used a red/blue spray with the same colour the aimbots respond to and saw the laser sights of 2 snipers focus on it almost immidiately, I don't place much faith in this anecdote but it's a fun idea).
When I see someone playing under NSPlayer when they are quite obviously not new I take it as an insult.
It's just plain rude.
Unfortunately, it is. Having a clan tag before a name does wonders to the rep of any player, and no one bats an eyelid if someone with a clan tag racks up dozens of kills in a row.
That's how it goes, I suppose. As long as people have the natural tendency to stereotype and generalize.

No, No. I were testing hax with my friend on LAN and the aimbot couldnt detect even a partially cloaked alien.
The cheat was some modified 0GC for NS..
1) Marines had no motion tracking.
2) I was shift-walking in a straight line on solid flooring (in veil). I was making absolutely no noise.
3) There's a marine knifing an RT. Every time I would move, he'd holster his knife and draw his LMG (I could hear it). I stop walking, out comes the knife again and StabStab! I move, out comes the LMG. So I charge him, die, and ask a friend on their team if they had motion tracking. "Nope" says he. admin_ban!
Was I right? I think I was, everything I witnessed told me I was, and just because his friends say he wasn't doesn't mean it's true. I found a group of friends that 2 were probably aimbotting, but because they used shotguns 100% of the time, it was hard to tell. Unfortunately when I started spectating that got scared and ran off.
Just because you're not cheating doesn't mean people won't think you are. There's a lot of hacks for NS out there, and a lot of **** who will use them.
Now in your case, cheating is almost impossible as a skulk because... frankly, aimbots don't work too well with melee weapons <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The other one however, I only got the impression of cheats because he basically, well, SUCKED. He sucked hard, until mysteriously you slapped him with a hitscan weapon, and suddenly whole teams were dying to the guy. I only noticed the change in fortunes when he started getting scores of 30-2 as a Lerk in 1.04 without cara, using just spikes. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
There will always be cheats, but the vast majority of players don't, just people are A) Too defensive about the possibility they are not the God of players (clanners in general take note) and B) Paranoid.
Basicly he could have seen your distortion and was able to kill you, so you slapped him with a BAN....?
No admin should ever stright out Ban someone for what they think is a cheat until they spec them to make sure!
Kicking ppl most times give them the message, if they come back and you spec to see if they are cheating and it looks likely, then BAN.
I think everyone should get a chance unless its FUL OUT OBVIOUS that its a cheat!

Did you have Silence?
If not he could have set his volume very high
Also like Majin said he may have seen you
Also sometimes i randomly pull out my lmg every so often in case a skulk comes near well attacking a rt with a knife and if i think one is near i often attack the rt once more then wait he may have done something like this
ALSO YOUR FREIND MAY HAVE LIED
sometimes people may do this because any clue about what ether side has is a BIG advanage
IF you Know the marines have MT whould you try something and whould you try the same if you think they may have MT?

I think this is a pretty clear case of admin abuse.
I was there and remember you banning "OnefishTwofish" on veil from the server. In fact, I have been playing regularily with Onefish on the for at least 5 months CoFR server (which I admin on), and I have never seen onefish hack or even appear to be hacking. I have never recieved a complaint, and he is always friendly about everything and willing to talk about it. The way you just banned him right off the bat without even asking for a second opinion shows that you did this out of spite. He is a skilled player and that's pretty much the end of the story.
However on the one time even I thought i would get accused of hacking.. no one said a thing but LOLZ
The game was ns_lost and they had a base up in the beginning of the weldable doorway into alpha... which was our hive
We were losing and the hive was being attacked..... and around half the team was dead... (i joined 2 min into game) with NO starting res... and rushed in and died in corridor....
My 2nd spawn time i ran around through los paronias and came in the back.... i bhopped my heart out... and single handedly got ALL 9 marines... EVERY SINGLE ONE..... you should have seen the scoreboard... i had around 30 hp left and the comm got out and killed me... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> they had like 4 ip's so the game was by no means over.... however i seriously expected to be accused of hacker after this... however no one said anything.... and after about 10 seconds i typed over all chat (I AM GOD) to which i got LOL from many marines....
i spawned back in to find i now had 23 res.... it was kewl... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
But i wasnt accused of hacking (i wasnt btw i DONT Hack) and it was kewl for people to gimme the benefit of the doubt on something that a lot of people would just yell KICKBAN over

Agreed. One thing I remember in NS whenever I get owned is this: SOMEONE out there is better than you. It doesn't matter HOW good you are, you are still 'mortal' in game, and can be beaten. I always give people the benifit of the doubt. Unless the hack is as obvious as all get-out, I don't accuse.
