It's good, but I don't see anything "great" and "amazing" about it.

So many good games recently, CoD, KotOR, this and a bunch of other games I can’t afford. I’m about half way through PoP ATM and it’s great so far. The only thing that’s annoying is that sometimes the voices are loud but most of the time I can barely hear them or not at all, and I can’t always play with the volume way up. This game needs subtitles…

I've just worked my way through the giant bird cage, about 30% done in total. I hear there was going to be a boss fight with a gargantuan bird that had to be cut; this must be where it would have taken place

What music were they playing in the commercial with the DJ in it?

*cough* reviving an old thread. But it's worth it.

I just played through this game on my cube. What a fantastic game. Other than one glitch that caused me to have to play through the first 33% again (which went really fast anyway) I've quite enjoyed this game. Sure, it has it's frustrations here and there, like a jittery camera (usually good though) and some cheapness by the enemies. But this is one of the finest platform 3d games I've played in a long time.

The background environments are fantastic. The attention to detail... the smoothness of the animation. The range of movement and control is very solid, and intuitive. The fighting is awesome, and the puzzles are always interesting. And finally, IMO, a very well done story. It just does everything quite well. Just rent it, like I did, if nothing else.

Plain and simple, I had a ton of fun playing this game.

I would love to know if someone has been able to unlock PoP1 on the PC version. I've followed the instructions to do it but I haven't been able to.

What I especially like about it is the way it DOESN'T FLUFFING WORK ON MY VIDEO CARD. Just like DX2, which was the only other game I've been looking forward to which hasn't suffered massive delays.

    Such is progress

Most interesting is the fact that PoP seems to feature High Dynamic Range (realistic sunlight) effects, however while following Half-Life 2, which also features HDR, I apparently found out that this effect is DX9 only. Yet on my DX8 GF4, it seems to work fine.
Perhaps it's HDR in pseudo form, but whatever the case it's a very lovely thing

I'd give the new prince of persia a 9/10 definately.

Graphics: Standard ps2 awesomeness. Animations are amazingly fluid.

    Sound: Great, nothing special here.

Gameplay: nothing short of amazing. The ability to rewind time is one of the best game mechanics ever, especially for a game like this. It keeps the pace up because if you're unsure of whether or not running along that wall and leaping out to the pillar will work, just go ahead and try it! It completely eliminates save-whoring. The combat is just fantastic. Very fluid, very easy to learn, but intricate and strategic, and amazingly stylish.

Replay: Good, but not great. Only problem is the game is pretty easy, and there are no harder difficulties!! (what were they thinking? This is why it gets a 9 instead of 10) Still, the game is enjoyable enough to be beaten a second or third time, the benefit being you can do everything a little more perfectly. It can easily be beaten in two sittings, or one if you're a little insane (its about 10 to 12 hours long). Second time through can be much shorter.

One note, if you unlock the original PoP game, its not worth it. For some reason the controls are extremely laggy in PoP 1, and i found it to be practically unplayable.

The PoP1 controls are laggy, but that's because you need to time them. You get used to it.
