<div class="IPBDescription">100% items in 1:46!!! crazy!</div><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><a href='http://planetquake.com/sda/mp/' target='_blank'>Metroid Prime Speed Run</a></span>
Some of you old schoolers may remember the old <a href='http://planetquake.com/qdq/' target='_blank'>Quake Done Quick</a> or similar speedruns, if you enjoyed those you're sure to enjoy this.
For those that don't know what a Speedrun is, its finishing the game in the fastest time possible by any means necessary short of cheating. Manipulation of the finer points of the physics engine (i.e. bunny hopping, rocket jumping), shortcuts you shouldn't be able to take, etc. are all fair game, but the use of cheat codes or stuff like extra programs (bots, cheating programs) are not used. Sometimes goals to complete are set up, such as getting 100% of items or not using a particular weapon. Speedrunning is usually done on games with timers so that there's a consistent measure (made by the game) of your time compared to someone else's.
Anyway, apparently people have started speedrunning Metroid Prime. Supposedly there are some pretty fast times for beating the game ASAP, but one guy has recently set a record for beating the game with 100% of items collected.
This is usually a feat that takes around 40 hours of gameplay to complete, he does it in 1 hour 46 minutes.
And its all on video for you to download and watch!
I'm about halfway through watching it, and seeing what he does is nothing short of AMAZING. People who saw Quake Done Quick and remember all the jumps done in that, you can expect to see similar stuff here.
Perhaps the coolest part of the thing is the order in which he gets the items is nowhere near the order its supposed to be. Like the very first thing he gets is Space Jump, and then he gets Morph Ball and Boost Ball way way early. Then he gets all 3 beams nearly within 4 minutes of each other. Crazy stuff I tell you.
Every one of you owes it to yourself to download at least a couple of videos, especially if you're a Metroid fan, even if you're on a modem. And those of you on high speed connections, you have no excuse! Get to downloadin!

EDIT: Best part about seperate video files. You can watched the one you just downloaded and let the next download as you watch ^_^
if you are talking to me, i dunno, but i created it =\
edit: not exactly that, just, the whoe, marine picking up a turret and using it as a weapon
My friend can beat the original donkey kong country in under 50 minutes.
So it does... my bad.
JESUS CHRIST THIS IS FRICKIN INSANE
We did it in 14 hours. and then died
I beat Prime in 18 hours with about 70% - 80% of the items.
I almost beat FFVII in 20 hours, but my memory card crashed.
Okay, could someone tell me once and for all whether it is possible to get "getright" to work with fileplanet?
I mean... I swear I did before... but...
(And the default windows download thingamabob just don't cut it with it freezing half way through.)
I always wanted to see a video of someone beating the first episode of Wolfenstein 3D... I think the record was something like 58 seconds.
Oh, and off topic again, Nataruo, you're either lying, or you've created a new forum ID. I definitely read the Suggestions and Ideas thread where that was first written, many many months ago, and it wasn't your post. So umm... unless you're an old forumite, don't try and take credit for that.

I believe Commander Kittens was the one who created it.
