Onos & Ladders

NOT a new game from Milton Bradley.
Should Onos even be able to climb ladders? It just doesnt seems fair or possible to me. Shouldnt, at some point, the onos' size become a weakness? I know, in some maps, this would restrict movement, even cause stuck situations, but still, maps could be fixed.

It'd be nice if Onoses rotated along the path of the ladder like a skuck while wall climbing, but for the sake of gameplay, Onos should climb ladders.

What's the point of spending 100 res when you can't get to where your needed quickly?

It would be a nice and overall logical idea to have the Onos unable to climb ladders, but it would mean not only redesigning several maps, it would also just be a great annoyance. The best example of how annoying it would be, imagine having viaduct on ns_nothing.....

There would have to be elevators everywhere, and elevators are the second most common causes of Onos death.

agreed. The onos is weak as it is, to make it immobile would be bad.

I hate elevators in the HL engine, they're just plain annoying.

Skulk is too small to boost an onos up the wall me thinks.

I fail to see how this is more realistic.

So, you want to make it so they can't climb ladders, then change the maps so it doesn't really affect their mobility? That is a lot of work for a little realism.

With the current map design the onos is already immobile enough. To make it unable to climb ladders would be just dumb.

What would be the most common cause of onos death?

It may not be life-like to have onoses climbing ladders but hell, neither is it life-like to have med-packs spawning out of midair in a flash of sparks, it just looks cool and improves gameplay. Just imagine onoses having strong front legs, it could work...

    Haha.

And as for "onos size should have a downside somewhere", well, in 2.1, the hitboxes are getting fixed. And onos will be as easy to hit as a hive(except hives don't move or attack you), then.(Before you ask; YES it's getting a whole lot more health to compensate for this)

With trip mines, auto accidents, LMG's, and all other forms of death rounding out the bottom 3, with less than 6% combined. http://www.drudgereport.com It was there I swear.

I thought #1 was going to be trying to get up a ladder to reach that marine. Try it sometime in hera processing.

    Talk about old hat.

    Gameplay before realism.
