They had a perfectly good line up 3 years ago with Dendmarsh, Allision, Palfy, Blake, and Robatile buuut Luc and Rob wanted more money (granted Blake was a greedy b*tch and wanted an extra 10 mil) so they traded both of them and gave up what was pretty much a garanteed Stanely Cup....god I hate managers.

And what the hell is with all of them getting injured, what kind of therapy staff do they have over there, do they even take care of their players? Argh.

As far as ratings go they should just encourage fighting again, nothing says hockey like a good arse whopping for cross-checking the captain.

I will say "Go Cubs" because they sound cooler than The Marlins. Not that I know anything about baseball (it's the one with the goat, right?).

    Go team!

This is just a general problem in sports as a whole. If Barry Bonds tried his little 'hit a home run and stand there watching it leave the ballpark then slowly saunter around the bases' nonsense in the days of Drysdale, Koufax, and Gibson, he would have have his skull caved in by the pitcher the next time he came to the plate. Nowadays if a pitcher tried that he'd get ejected. Totally lame.

I'm waiting for pro boxing to say it's no longer ok to punch your opponent.

Wow, that thing about the goat was actually relevant! How unorthodox!

You had no idea about the goat? That is pretty weird that you said that, then...

Interesting side note to the whole "goat curse" business. There was an article in my college's paper a few weeks back. Apparently a bunch of Cubs fans from our college went down to Houston with a goat to try to get into an Astros v Cubs game. (Monse, you should see where this is going) They got refused at the gates and then did the whole goat curse thing to the Astros. When interviewed as to why they did this they claimed they were transferring the goat curse to the Astros so the Cubs could win this year. Cubs fans are HELLA superstitious but damn gotta admire their dedication to make a road trip to Houston from Urbana, IL with a goat.

Today will be another interesting game. Penny did very well against the Cubs this season when they met in the regular season. No doubt I know Prior will be very hard to hit but, he has to throw strikes and Marlins get the ball in play more than they strikeout. Still a close game in the end.

Funny thing is Marlins are playing completely without any pressure on them because no one expected they'd go this far and under-estimated them all the way. On the other hand the Cubs are playing with the pressure of a whole freaking state of ravaging fans. Should be interesting to see how well Prior performs because he and Wood can't win this series all by themselves.

    BBL after the game.

Since no one else posted in between decided to just edit this and post my comments.

Crappy pitching by Penny plain and simple. You could tell he wasn't comfortable at all and getting hit with the first contact of the game wasn't great either. Oh well good game for the cubbies and hopefully they let out all their offense on this game and will come up empty in Miami on friday. I didn't realize Wrigley field only held around 40,000 k, thought it held way more. Anywho..... GOOOOO MARLINS!

PS... Monster HR by Sammy....hopefully the fish realise he is getting hot and pitch smarter to him.

Awwwww yeeeaahhhhhhhh... Cubs 12, Marlins 3. And Prior gave up those runs because he was practicing his changeup. Yes, in the post season, during a game, the lead was so huge he was practicing.

That Sammy homerun land yet? 495 feet!!! What about Gonzo's two shots - he's been on fire! Or Aramis's second homer of the series. Or Lofton's 4 hits. Or Simon's awesome clutch hacking. God, I'm starting to actually believe - must... restrain... self...

Now, serious question: Does anyone think that Fox's announcing team sucks ponce and completely favors whatever team is playing against the Cubs? They kept going on and on and on about Penny's 'good' numbers and the awesome defensive capabilities of the Marlins and Rodriguez's great hitting. None of which occured - Penny got shelled and was taken out in the 3rd, the Marlins should have been charged with at least 3 errors, and Rodriguez fanned twice and got a basehit that did no damage. And all during the game it was yackyackyackyack from all three of those chatty cathy's in the booth. I so wish I was back home so I could mute the TV and turn on WGN radio...

Can a Cub get some props up in this beyotch??? Dizamn, Fizox!

    Yes, I'm a Floridian and a die-hard marlins fan.

And I will rub it in your face so badly when the fish win this one.

Florida has die-hard fans? Weren't you guys on the contraction chopping block due to only a couple thousand fans showing up per game?

J/K I'm sure your 60,000 fan turnout will be rocking. Hell, the Braves couldn't even sell out their playoff games... 1/4 of the fans there were Cubs boosters. We'll see how many people are wearing Cubs red-white-and blue tomorrow...

That's because being a Braves fan is almost as bad as being a Mets fan. My hatred for Prior and Wood have grown tenfold in the last week. They succesfully shut down probably the most productive offensive team playing today. And now talk that Atlanta might lose Gary Sheffield to the Yanks has got my skin crawling. Not to mention the uncertain condition of one my favorite players, Smoltz.

Now that the Braves are history, I have no choice but to root for the Cubbies. I get this warm fuzzy feeling when I support the underdog, even if it includes cheering for Sosa. Also the lack of other teams to cheer for has got me in a bind (Actually I just want the Yankees to lose. I wish Steinbrenner would rot in hell for what he has done to the game of baseball).

WOW! What a freaking game. Stupid Castillo should of kept running and he would've made it. :/ When ya think on the running pads you lose. That's why the coaches are at the corners. Conine made such a great dive for that outfield ball in the 11th but alas he couldn't make it. Still can't believe that final out.

Marlins should've scored at least one more when Gonzalez hit into the left field wall but Conine forgot to run hard with 2 outs left. Anywho.... tomorrow Willis should give us a quality start and I really think this will go to 7 games and every game inbetween a nail-biter. Seriously think I'm developing a heart condition from this damn series. Like the Giants series wasn't bad enough.

    GG

Marlins will win next two and the series will be decided by Wood and Redman pitching again in the 7th Game.
