Don't worry about being a "newb" or not. A big problem with the competetive scene is clans join in and they don't understand that there is different style of play that is required to win. This can become very frustrating.
As it is different from standard pub play, we also feel it offers some things pubs don't and we just want to help open the door for more people to get involved in this part of the community if we can.
While we are glad to help in any way possible - a main goal of this project is to provide an understanding of the logic and flow of the game. Aim is not something we can teach, and you could even be better than us, so we really don't care if you just downloaded NS yesterday or have been playing since 1.0. I am a great player but a really poor commander. (well not that greata player but a great gorge) Will you Pandas be teaching to become a better commander? For a guy who runs a web site called commchair.com, I really lack any skill when I hop in.
Yes, there is going to be help for every aspect of the game. Most everyone has something they would like to improve on, even myself. So if you just need a help in one area it will be worth it.
My brother and I are starting to mod Half-Life 2 ( even though it hasn't come out yet, were making models, sounds, etc) but I don't think wre going to need a clan. Maybe we can get some stuff to show when the game comes out and we mod it for a while. We've done a share of modding. ( Serious Sam, GTA3, Gta Vice City, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, and more) So I don't think this will be too complicated. Also, I've talked to Zazi and another person I personally know ( I know Zazi personally too) who helped with NS. And form what I hear, I could probably help out with the next project or w/e if desired.

I think it would be easier to teach a team strats then anything else. I have noticed that sometimes thats all they need. When I ring for other teams its like they dont even say the most basic things before the match starts...They just ready it like its a pub and figure it out when its going. A good strat has lots of options like that but you need a basic idea. You need to know what nodes are preferable for what hive. You need to have a couple of "wildcard" players in your strat on aliens, it leaves you options. Marine strats vary ALOT from map to map. Some maps are suited for cap and defend, or cap and attack, or even just rush. On some of the bigger maps phase tech becomes a lot more important, and its always good for sneaking in attacks.
Anyways, My point is we can help with that stuff easily. I still see redemption Onos in scrims....That just isn't good at all. Alot of people play in pubs and see it all the time and think its the best thing ever, but its the word D upgrade to get. What upgrades to get for what class is easy too. Ok so team strats are pretty easy to teach, executing them can sometimes be hard.
Individual skill is a lil bit harder to teach. Basic marine aim just takes practice. Alien movements and ambushing we can teach though. Effective ways to scout, how to skulk/fade/lerk/gorge, how to attack a hive, how to defend one. If you need help in any of these areas, we will try our best to improve you in that area.

I have a pretty extensive FPS background, but I have only been playing NS for about a month. I was in the Wrecking Crew several years ago. We were ranked 3rd at one time on OGL, back in the days of Quake2.
I have actually pubbed with some pandas on [Evil] and =LNX= servers before, and had a good time.
