O...m.....g......
O.k, I know this has been discussed, but I have to vent.

I WANTED to like this show, and it was o.k (apart from the fact the hosts clearly have no idea what theyre talking about) for the most part. I liked the face-off, the game guru, the reviews varied depending on the reviewer; some of them could barely be bothered to stop playing to give the review, and just grunted things like "yeah.... it's great.... yeah.... graphics... yeah".

Then came the horror that inspired me to post this.

They had a face off between C&C generals, and C&C Red Alert 2.

Do you know what they did? They showed footage of Commandos 2.

Who researches this stuff? How did no-one figure out that THIS IS NOT C&C GENERALS? Didnt the title screen give it away? Or the box? Or did they just download the footage off Kazza?

My god..... idiot overload...... aaaaaargh

Can you remember the last "gamers" programme we got over here in the U.K? That crap presented by Ian Lee.
They stood there and bashed Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty for 15 minutes, went to some adverts, when the ads where done they bashed MGS2:SOL for another 15 minutes!!!
    It was complete crap.

That show called Bits wasn't much better either. But at least that had

The only show left on UK t.v revolving around gaming is that CyberNet thingy which only gets show at stupid times, I think the last time I saw it it was being shown at 3am.

The UK has never had anything even remotely resembling a respectable gaming-orientated TV program. And i doubt it ever will. A TV show has to appeal to an audience of a certain size in order to make it worth the cost of getting it on air, and unfortunately the appropriately-sized audience in question is a disgrace to humanity.

/me shudders while recalling the "UKs greatest gamer" TV competition.

I say bring back Gamesmaster. It was the only decent Video Game show i've ever seen.
The hosts of Gamezille appear to give the game a score without actually playing it.....I assume they are simply told what to say.
And the people playing it are so entranced by the game they lose the ability to form sentances.

You be talking about Thumb Bandits which was damn funny.

I'm surprised no-one else has seen Mercenaries which was shown on Bravo a while back, repeats are shown on Ftn (Sky 256) daily.

Urgh, i posted this before, but it got lost in one of the forum's errors. Here we go again....

After watching this excuse for a gaming program, i can now vouch for how absolutely shite it really is. First they had a gaming 'expert' who was talking about Super Mario World and they kept showing clips of him playing. He died no less than 3 times, ON FRICKIN' MARIO! So that made me cringe a bit, but then it came to the part which made me just turn my tv off.

One of my pet hates is music making programs. No, i'm not, however, talking great programs like Cubase or Logic, no, i'm talking these crappy Playstation music makers. The show moved over to their resident 'music expert' who began to waffle on about how good this new generic, mediocre dance music creator worked and then proceeded with the following dialogue.

Retard 1: So have you got anything you've done?
'expert': Sure, this took me about an hour to put together.

'expert' presses play and some mindless generic music pours forth from the speakers.

Retard 1: So i can make music like this and be a top DJ with this?
    'expert': Yeah you can.

    AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

God knows HOW LONG i've spent sat infront of my synth playing with cubase to make a new rhythm or melody sound just right and i'm sick of these loop-based mindless programs encouraging people with NO musical talent to make music that is entirely devoid of all musical talent.

    *cough*

Anyway, sorry for that little rant. This program is crap.

Thankfully I've never had an opportunity to watch a gaming TV show. I once thought about how I would do one though, unfortunatly I would be the Jay Sherman of game reviewers so it would'nt be watched by anyone.

While not entirely related to this topic, I just finished watching the new BBC2 program Time Commanders, where a team of people command an army against a computer controlled opponent, based on historic battles. Todays battle was the Romans (Computer controlled) against the Carthaginians (Team controlled) in Trebia, northern Italy. The battle originally took place in 216 BC. This was actually a very enjoyable program, which is somewhat of a novelty since these sorts of programs usually fail to entertain somewhere along the way. They had two historical experts surveying the battle and commenting on their tactics with lots of enthusiasim, comparing this team's efforts to the strategy used by Hannibal when he was fit in battle against the Romans.

Next week is another battle against the Romans set in southern Scotland, which I shall hopefully be tuning into. Finally, a TV game program using computers which is intelligent and entertaining to watch!

I've discussed GamezVille on many forums. This is pure rubbish! The blokes have no idea what they're talking about, the kids who review the games base their reviews on the graphics rather than the gameplay, the games guru is a complete ripoff of Gamesmaster, perhaps even Nam Rood from Bad Influence too and its just generally crap!

Yeah :esuna: i remember watching that episode where the bloke was talking to the 2 retards whilst playing mario world. Most of the time he just kept still and then eventually when he did move he got killed. THEN!! THEN!! the 2 blokes had the audacity to say at the end that by the looks of his playing he was a Mario World expert. These blokes know nothing!!!!!!!

The best games show was and will always be Bad Influence. It had presenters who knew their stuff, enjoyed games and actually bothered to research their games. I remember that fantastic piece they did on games piracy where they researched the different methods of copying games such as XCOPY (High-tech in those days) a SNES box which copies games onto floppy disks and they also showed the difference between the boxes and why the fakes don't actually have the company logo on them.

That was great stuff! Gamerzville is crap. They even sent a reporter to the making of a new game, and the questions they asked the makers were so perfetic. They were like "yeah so are the graphics good" and "umm will there be good weapons".

Even Game-Pad is better than gamezville. Game-Pad is ok, i mean it is presented by ex-bad influence bird Violet Berlin, which is always good, i used to fancy her, but the show isn't that good really and they only make a certain amount of shows per year, which are repeated for the next year. I mean ffs today they just literally reviewed the BRAND NEW GAME Battlefield 1942!!! Sheesh!

The only descent games program on now is Cybernet, which i stay up to watch even though its on at 3am, because its good!

Bring back Bad Influence i say!!!

Bits was tolerable, Thumb Bandits was just fun, Gamesmaster was nice but its been churned out every few years in a newer, lesser, format. Games World for example. And now Gamezville.

Gamesmaster had those little moments you'll never see again, like Dave Perry getting thrashed at a game and storming off, or the constant bandana jokes.

I gave Gamezville one viewing and didn't last 30 seconds. I don't watch any televised review show any more.

you should of seen the Warcraft III review. The guy was standing over the kid saying "yeah, so..all those buttons there must be really confusing yeah?" and hes like.... "not really, they have hotkeys for these" and the guys like "oh cool..." and the kid gives it 5/5 and then he gives HIS verdict and he do you know what he does? he says "Yeah, it can be abit confusing with all the buttons around the screen, But the graphics are good!" and gives it 4/5. Nam Rood, Viowet Berwin, and....eeer... Andy Crane, wasnt it?

Nam Rood had a modded up speccy somewhere in his shed.... and his hedgehog.

Viowet of course now doing gamethpot tv with gratuitous cleavage shots on Bravo (the UK digital/cable channel).

Oh god yeah, the Datablast was an amazing idea wasn't it!!! Although yeah my VCR was old, so if you paused it, it just jumped a lot, shame.

Yeah Bad Influence was the best show!! Even the kids that reviewed the games in those days did it properly. Violet Berlin is now in Game-Pad yeah. Have you seen the weird clothes she wears? Its kind of a top with 2 zips on it which are unzipped to show her clevage, its quite kewl

Andy Crane was kewl, even though he admitted he wasn't much of a gamer, he did do the show well anyway.

Nam Rood was just plain amazing, i was so sad when he left and got replaced with that black woman Sonia I think it was. Remember his catchphrase?
