Note: your eyes will never get "stuck" cross-eyed.
The strain of crossing your eyes comes from your brain attempting to focus on something unfocusable. Therefore, when you actually *do* focus on these, it's not so painful. ^^
(Some of the strain is from your muscles not used to doing that, yes.)
The problem with parallel images is that you can't anti-cross your eyes (at least, not many people can), so they would have to be much smaller images. ________
On another note: these are fantastic!! I want to see an animated one. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

maybe a natural selection mode (or mod) which splits the screen in to two halfs with slightly different angles on each so we can play NS in 3d for cheap! someone make this please! (it would be funny)
Here. I thought to help out those poor people (like me) who have an easier time with the magic-eye style visual tricks than the cross-eyed version, I quickly whipped up this. I think I made it about as large as I could without making it hard to view (keep in mind I'm on a 15" monitor running at 1024x768, so some resolution adjustment may help if it's too hard to get the overlap). Naturally, sit back about 3 feet (rough guess) from the monitor and stare as far past it as you can, through the image. It's a litlte hard to make out the 3-D at this size... (or maybe I goofed)
made one of the hive <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
the sensory chamber was excellent. hive was a little big so took longer, but i got it in the end.
(NB: you can see 3d images designed for one method by using the other method. the only problem is, you see them 'inside out' - the fades claw sticks into the picture instead of coming out. [instead of seeing an aeroplane flying in front of a cloud, you see an aeroplane-shaped hole in a cloud])
God, I wish I had eyes that could do any of these eyes tricks <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> When you can barely see out of one eye, its really kinda hard, I sat here on and off for an hour trying, the stuff would blur a little sometimes, but thats about it.
I did a bio-chem class in high school, and one of the big things that we had to do was study proteins. We had this piece of software that would take the protein and bend it up like it was supposed to, then translate it into these same images. If you think your eyes are strained now, try starring at one of these for half an hour straight, while you rotate it to get a better look. It was fun, but man, was it weird trying to write cross-eyed.
I managed to do the last 2 BTW,and I have to say....it pwns!!
I never knew how to crosseye at first,I had to learn how to do crosseyes or be branded a 'loser' back at kindergarten....or should we say preschool....the things we do to get into society hehe....
what you can do, which absolutely pwns is top open up 2 instances of HLMV, load the same model choose a frame (such as frame 8 of the skulk leap animation), get the view set up exactly the same, then rotate one of them one way slightly, depending on your preffered 3d viewing method. when the views are set up perfectly, play the sequences. start one off, then start the next one off at the right time so they play in sync. then, go into 3d mode, and see the pwnage as a skulk leaps towards you.
Bogglesteinsky an even nicer thing is to get yourself a pair of LCD goggles with proper drivers and play NS with them. Sadly you would have to have a high refresh rate since it would halve the refresh rate and the brightness would be lower.
I am buying a new monitor(CRT) a bit later on so I will definetly consider getting a pair.
coil,if you do not wish for me to put this,you can well....edit the post so the thing doesn't show,I know this isn't my work but I felt like doing it
BTW,you'll need to focus a bit more sicne the pic is well....animated <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I was going to do an animated chibiskulk, till I looked at it closely in HLMV and saw that horrific vertex assignment error in his elbows, which was too embarrassing to draw attention to. /: I'll need to fix that at some point. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Bogglestiensky, A descent pair of LCD goggles compatible with most games is only about 50$, that's less than I spend on sweets every month so it shouldn't be to bad, if it is something you find cool enough.

I'd probably have a harder time on parallel ones, but these do hurt my eyes... don't wanna go cross eyed.

and somehow the chamber seemed appropriate ;)

you should try to make one, it would be cool, i always thought making a proper magic eye would be nails.
also, that onos one is too far apart! harsh on the eyes!

I decided to screw around with leap....but then again the screenshot screwed up so I was only stuck with frame 1 and 2....
