it's 100% fair, I've seen a few games where marines have used jet packs to build turrets and even seige the hive from that location, can't really do much and it's tough to take out the location when the HAs start keeping an eye on it.. no onos can even get close.

If your commander's anti-jetpack, You can't research jetpacks fast enough to save the base, so a GL's your only viable option, aside from smart base placment. Just thought I should point that out.
Well, and some could argue that you'd also have to wait for the Armory to upgrade, but honestly, if that hasn't been done yet, you have bigger problems.
Don't kill Bile bomb. This is just a case of bad sportmanship on the Marines part. Build differently next time.
I didn't even think of that: seige. THAT can't be too hard. And the gorge simply cannot BB fast enough to seriously damage a base unless it has lots of supporting chambers up there with it. You can weld the base back up much faster than its adren recharges after its initial barrage. And once the siege is up.... bye bye gorgie.
er I mean outside the hive that way protected from the gorge's ceiling bbomb pwnage
because even if you weld easily, a lerk might get up there and spore to death now there are workarounds, you could somehow have ha only in that area, and lerks need to peek over if only for a little bit so some weapon upgrades, good aim, and fast pistolers might take care of them. If there are chambers tho it will be problematic; I do not know if 2.0 fixed the siege's vertical range limit.
i am assuming the gorge does not need to peek for bbomb; I have not been guilty of such so I don't know for sure
ns_nothing was reworked for 2.0. It used be a hugely imbalanced-towards-marines map. Things have gotten better (at least you can't just HMG the hive from the magical Cargo Storage vent any more, phew).
One grenade launcher would take care of that gorgie. So would some jetpacking. So would turrets in the hallway to keep the skulk from getting there in the first place. So would not building in Silo in the first place.
If you're going to move into a hive, accept that in many cases it'll be an alien-friendly area (Viaduct being a notable exception).

Why would the mappers nerf alien in their own hive? It's like having marine nerfs in marine start because it's alien unfriendly (provided the same situation, marines are somewhere else and aliens can't defend their outpost in marine start). There are areas of the maps that are SUPPOSED to be harder for marines, or harder for aliens.
Really it's very simple, and there is no reason to be arguing about this. If you don't want to suffer from the disadvantages of defending the Silo hive, put things in one of the hallways instead. There's no reason you have to be in the hive area; as long as a siege can reach the room, the aliens can't build that hive. Objective complete.
Silo is simply not a marine-friendly hive, and it's ludicrous to say it's an exploit that aliens can run circles around you in there. It's just map design. There are many relocation spots in this game that are simply not a good idea, such as Silo and anything under a high vent.

With aliens having 2 hives and you having a phasegate somewere there but no jetpacks, which two of theese turret farms are the best. - Top left, placing the tf at the side. - Top right, placing it in the upper turn. - Bottom left, placing it in the southern turn. - Bottom right, placing it at the resnode.

I find that as a general rule, you should always have GL's available when the 2:nd hive comes online. It is the counter to both umbra and gorges in unaccessible areas. Very important.
Just start upgrading the Armory as soon as the aliens start the second hive.
About the Reactor Room thing : I tend to think the old "TF at nodes" reflex is dangerous , the smart move is to lightly defend the RR/Cargo corridor with 2-3 turrets , placing the TF at the top right corner of the RR with a few more turrets inside it to support node guards (electrifying both nodes is a bit too expensive right now)
With the vent welded shut , the aliens can't pass through the RR. This placement is 99% BB proof (gorge is vulnerable and can't see what it's hitting from the lower level) if you assign at least 1 marine to guard the RR (which is supposed to be an important place really) and also secures the passage between Cargo and Waste
Alternatively , place a TF+phase in the corridor linking West Access to the RR. With the nearby vent welded shut , gorges have no hopes of BBing it ; you can add a few turrets on the lower level of the RR to defend the nodes as well.
Wicked idea for PowerSilo : once you have jetpacks , why not build a TF at the accursed upper corners ? The aliens will have trouble finding it without elec because of the darkness , you can place a phase gate here as well , out of reach of the onos.
Wicked comms relocate to this place during the endgame stage , and it is quite nasty with only 2 hives. It is highly unadvisable though , because of the lerks spores and cratering damage (unless you camp with HA shotguns , which makes this endgame relocation even more evil than the Waste fortress)
