Parasite Switch Fun Thought

In ns_bast the vent near the marine spawn lift has a door aliens aren't meant to get by... But with switch fun back they will be able to open them?

Or was it the intention that this could be opened by parasite?

    If you mean the ones in the vent, I doubt that parasite will work through the door, but it will let aliens close the door behind them, something marines can't do.

    Well, there's a gap and you can fire spores through it... So I'm guessing u can parasite the switch.

    It's a one sided door in the vent... Aliens can't get in from one side, unless the button on the other side is pressed.

    I think all projectiles are blocked through those vents. Try firing acid rocket or bilebomb through it, I'm pretty sure it won't work.

    actually, fiering acid rockets spores and bilebombs and parasite does work there I think. It did with the similare doors that excisted in 1.04. If you want to test it allready you might just get a marine to help you see if you hit him or not.

    Ya, if you hit the switch, you'll be hitting the switch for the OTHER door. You'd have to walk all the way around to get to the door you're at.

    im so happy those vents have switches.... ns bast is my fav map simply because you can go ANYWHERE if you know how...

    There is a million different routes to anywhere... learn the vents in the elevator.. and you can get ANYWHERE except refinery hive.. for that you must break through the revolving door... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You don't have to,take the Tram route from Feed via the sneaky siege vent and you should be fine <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    As for parasiting the doors,yes you can,maybe that is why they removed parasite switch fun,if anyone is playing 2.01a, or any later version could you PLEASE check if it works,because you are the only people who are actually playing the version with parasite switch fun , I is lazy for finding 2.01b servers :\

    ive actually wondered that too... i just open them in early game and the rines arent smart enough to close them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> in the public beta during rushes just have each alien shoot the other persons door.. im pretty sure that would work

    Yes it does. The whole "cube" that makes up the switch is a button entity. This means that you don't need to push the switch texture to push the switch. I think aliens should be able to shoot that switch. Those vent systems are rather useful...

    No, you cannot parasite those doors open. SNM's Nightmare Asylum runs 2.01b (which has parasite switching) and it won't work on those vents. Speaking of the marine start vent, to open it once it's been welded just run up the vent and hit use on the door. Kind of pathetic, really.

    I think they should add back the gorge spit to open doors also

    (as gorge it gave me something to do while waiting near a door lol)

    From a mapper point of view it could be made so that the button can only be activated when a player is standing next to it. So I guess they could fix that in the next client release.
