Too Many People Getting Bored

or saying they are leaving
Over the past week or so I've heard/seen quite a few people saying they are bored with 2.0 and quite a few saying they are quitting... It's kinda worrying that people are saying this after a few weeks of release... I don't think 2.0 is that bad but I guess it's kinda disheartening for marine lovers.
This is not what I think of 2.0, it's just something I've noticed and would like to discuss. I wouldn't like to see some good commanders leave because they can't make their team win.
(I know I've used marines here, this is not my view, it's the people who are bored/quitting saying it.)
Roll on 2.1.

Anyways, it is unfortunate that most of the newbies have left, they are the people that could turn Veteran some day.
I've been through this cycle several times.
Maybe... *gasp* I should even learn to comm??
I think a major problem is that people are having too many bad games in a row, but don't want to leave NS and get bored.

I don't like CS
Hmmm... Made up statistics don't prove a point...
I like to play NS with my friends, because it helps teamplay. If my friends get bored of NS then I probably won't play as much. This is happening to me already.
Agreed, except I think 2.0 is pretty much fine, just not the drag out crap.
you cant get bored of something when its only been out for 3 or 4 weeks... if your bored with it, u must be a spoilt brat, go play doom or something.
Good point. Usually you can give a pretty accurate guess as to who is going to win as soon as the match starts. Once you see the quality of your teammates (even on aliens) and/or comm, you can pretty much tell whether you're going to win or lose. Once you notice how little of your teams resource towers are going up, and how many the opposite team are capping, you can tell what the outcome of the game is going to be. This also gives you an inclination as to how exciting or boring the following game is going to be.
Unfortunatley, marines start too often with either no comm or a crap comm, and therefore is incredibly boring to play when you know right at the start that you're going to lose. If the game starts, however, and a guy runs right for the chair, hops in, assigns a bunch of squads and starts giving out waypoints and voice orders, you know it's going to be pretty fun game, only problem is that is it just doesn't happen often enough on the pubs.
I'm thinking of quitting. After reading that no changes were made to the alien econ in 2.1a, I'm pretty sure that I'll stop playing by the end of the month. I'm pretty frustrated that many of the vets still refuse to admit that the game is heavily biased towards aliens, and even more frustrated that nothing is being done about it. (The main problem is alien expand, NOT onos redempt/devour!)
Like it or not, the game is unbalanced right now. 90% of games are alien wins, even on beta servers. This is NO fun. This is why a lot of people are leaving.
If I do stop playing NS, I'll probably be back as soon as the next patch is released though, hopefully with a new, balanced game. I know there's gonna be a lot of people who disagree with this post, but hey, talk to the hand .
Same here. That is why I mostly play aliens.
1.04 sucked real bad, without onos/fades, theres no way u can clear turets easily. its almost a sure lose situation when marines farm rts.
now 2.0 and the variants are much better, but still, i am also getting bored with it.
i feel that i need more tactics and strategies to think about and try to keep my
interest on it.
if you were to compare wc3FT (altho another genre), we can see replays all over the place, and very good guides, etc etc.. maybe we need these stuff to be more visible to players.. mayb a guide together with NS installation or something.
plus the official ns site is growing cobwebs... pretty slow in updates to keep ppl curious..
end of it all, maybe im simply bias or a lazy bum to search for those stuff i couldnt find hehe =]
mayb u guyz can post sum links.
Im sure after the next tweak patch it will be fine.
you can be alien, marine, or the commander. each one is a very different experience. commanding is the toughest to learn but its very rewarding. It is really like your playing a RTS game sometimes. I selected some troops and order them to build something. neat go attack a hive, they go! of course you need a good team to pull off a win, the com can't be expected to turn rambos and bad aimers around to win the game somehow. they will get crushed.
I reccomend anyone who hasn't commanded seriously to try it out. not just hop in and drop the armory and ips then ditch it, but com the entire game. learn the hotkeys, learn strategies, keep commanding until you get praised by your marines that you did an awesome job at winning. NS needs more good coms. for me, I've been commanding for less than a week and tonight I pulled 2 wins in a row on ns_veil. no lame f4 either, we killed their last hive and they pinged to death! the correct victory
