    I'm concerned that people will judge models based on how good they look in renders &c, rather than how they'd appear in-game.

    I was a little concerned about the fact that a bad model rendered in Maya is going to look better than a really nice one with a MS3D screenie as well..

    Or you could have rules like "One side view, one top view, one back view, one perspective view, and one view of how it would look as a v_model in game"

    anyway, im signing myself up fotr the skinning and my friend baash up for modeling since he isnt on these forums, so...just put me down for both, i c him all the time, so its no different, we're kinda a team.... ok, an ill judge lol jk

    also, to fix the render program have a judge render them in something, like maya or that other nice one and all att aproximately the same angles, or just release thekm as a mdl file so the judges can look at the model using hlmv, thatd be the most fair

    straight from a judge...

    completed files are to be in .mdl with a null bone assignment (just a few dots with everything assigned to them)... keep this simple guys.


    renders lie... we that's why the no renders... sorry for not mentioning that...

    the MDL file format was chosen because HLMV is a relativly low-CPU intensive program, and judges can have 3-4 open at the same time, while still being able to troll in IRC...


    we have #nsmodelling on gamesnet to talk with non forum people... so get them in the IRC...


    i will be a contestant... and a judge, i'm just not going to be able to win any awards... just because i'll be a judge doesn't mean i'ma screw with the contest.
