    You should quit...

playing on that server at least.
  • RR_Co-NRR_Co-N Join Date: 2002-12-11 Member: 10524Members
    doesnt matter which server.

    its all the same.
  • StoneburgStoneburg Join Date: 2002-11-11 Member: 8174Members
Well then I suggest you just quit, period.
  • IdenIden Join Date: 2002-10-16 Member: 1513Members
All I can suggest is the more "high profile" servers, you'll see less F4ing and more people willing to bite the bullet and take a loss for the sake of fun. Nano, FoR, P3dro's, Groomp(?)'s server where they kick if you're not doing teamplay. Cool stuff like that.

    It's not the F4.

It's the MFING STUPID TEAM STACKING NUBS&*@Y#*@! OMGOMGOGM WIL...

    Ahem.

I was just gonna make a ten page long post about teamstacking, but this post is really all that's needed.

I dislike the high profile servers. I like a decent amount of freedom in playing, including the ability to recycle base/F4 when it's required. I remember being banned for F4ing before. *ugh* bad memory.

Don't dismiss comments like this. This is a serious problem, and a basic issue that any complex game like NS has to deal with. Essentially, a "good game" relies on so many people in NS, compared to other team games. In TFC and CS, you can still have a good game even if you have a few lamers on your team. But in NS, a single bad egg can spoil everything. And games can suck again and again and again. I've seen it happen, and I really wonder how newbies, who rarely bother to play more than a few games before deciding that something is great or it sucks, ever manage to come to love the game when there are so many crappy pubs out there.

People can push the need for admins all they want, but they are only part of the solution. They are often too late, can't be around all the time, and sometimes they are even screwing around themselves. And come on: there are DEFINATELY things that can be done to make them less necessary on pubs.

Team balancing is a major issue. The game needs to have an optional flag that automatically evens the teams if they remain uneven for more than 30 seconds, or at least sounds some sort of notice about uneven teams. The fact is, people often leave midgame: all it takes to ruin an 8v8 is one new player joining one team, and one old player leaving the other team. And uneven teams can ruin a game: everyone feels like it was cheap, and are tempted to f4 early.

Another problem is that ejecting a commander just doesn't work. If the comm is screwing up in a big way for long enough for people to notice, let alone spamming comm chairs, the game is almost certainly already over: it's too late.

There are things to do that can reduce the damage that lamers can do. For instance, putting reasonable limits on marine structures: only two comm chairs at a time (why would you EVER need more?) and only three (or even four) Infantry Portals (the aliens can only ever have three, and marines spawn faster, so that seems fair). This would reduce the comm chair/IP spam that we see.

thats a really nice funny story.
you forgot long endgames full of turrets, 10 of them placed in early game, 50 later, and nade spam, and aliens that won because of sens first BUT not because ot teamwork to it takes forever, well not forever, just till 5 aliens press f4 to take you to the favourite place.

I suggest you to play ns_cydonia , the RR is worth "humping" it.

It's true, the major problem with any game like this is going to be caused by the players.

I remember one game recently, we'd just started on a map, and I was marines. Things were going OK for a couple minutes, when one guy said 'hey, let me comm!'

So the commander got out, he got in, and sold all the structures in the base. The reason? He didn't like that map.

    <i>Me ></i> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo--> <i>< Comm</i>

If he'd have asked everyone, that would've been OK, but he didn't.... I know the comm is supposed to make decisions for the team, but decided to suicide so we can play a different map is a little extreme. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

It all depends on the server and the community, really. In adition to NS I am an advid DoD player and played TFC for a few years. Pubbing on both mods tends to suck really, but once you fine a community that values teamwork, fun, and sportsmanship, things really start to shine. I managed to do this, and have played the best games of my life there. NS is no different, but give 2.0 some time and the same communities will grow, some already exist.

I tend to agree with Kinslayer, communities have to grow and mature (lol sounds like a whiskey) before you can really have a good games. I have noticed this. Once the general population of decent players and n00bs who are willing to learn make up the majority then n00bs with bad attitude problems will be fixed. Very quickly. I might be talking crap, so ignore me if I am <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

nah. he obviously just already knew that aliens are overpowered when they use movement chambers correctly.
He just made the game end fasterto join aliens next time , aliens for sure would have won sooner or later.
Hes no noob, he knows the game.

I've seen two people demolish a good server.

Mostly with the n00b! comments. So I just pick a different server and chuckle to myself that they'll never ever ever figure out why the keep losing.
