I'm in LA so I can pick you all up on the way. : P
If only it were Texas... (sigh)
EDIT: actually its also in parts of NJ canada, nevada and niagra falls
old problem, old old problem, nobody did anything about it.
last week it was people not updating with a 3 week old patch.
This week its not doing something about a more than 14year old cascading failure threat of an aging power grid that experienced a greater rate of growth that it could handle.
On the positive, NYC has got to have an elite disaster response team. In a post september world (woah a sentence where i dont vomit when reading that phrase) your police and firedeparement will know what to do like none other.
More negative note: terrorists will love to know this much carnage can be cause by blowing up one sub station. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Engineers are just nerds, what do they know about anything?
Watching the TV, it's just INSANE seeing all these people emtpy out of New York city. They are like walking along the free-ways home. People are stuck in elevators. People are trapped in the subway.
Yet nobody is rioting, all these people are helping each other out and calmly leaving the city. GG Post-Sept 11 New Yorkers.

Me too.
Anyway, I think that'd be fun if you were in the City when it was blacked out and you just wandered the streets with a Flashlight.... at night.
Sure, blame it on Canadian lightning for an American mistake. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
No power = no cellular service. Ahh, pure sweetness. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
heh, I was on the computer and it turned off, I thought I had the new virus that makes your comp restart! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
but now my dad is stuck in his office with no lights <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
and it's actually nice with the power out, since you can't really do any "work" its just a feeling of relaxation and you can't do anything about not working <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Honestly...
If i understand correctly, the problem is the connecting stations between the big big regions, and one of them went down for one reason or another, and that caused WAY too much power to go through the remaining one which blew IT out and so on and so forth. I actually think its kinda funny, I live, Like i said, In Oklahoma, We have tornados all the time(mostly spring), and they knock power out, The biggest one was May 3 2000 It was a mile wide and stayed on the ground for 4 hours, it allso went right through our biggest city.
Natural distasters are nature's way of showing us who the b**ch really is...
