Well, i got mouse because back when i was 7 i had this mouse suit that my mum had made me, and also back then i was small for my age. but PS_Mouse, which is what i use on irc i got that from a rather funny conversation that i had with one of my friends, it started when he asked me what i was doing, and i told him that i was stalking a nearby pole... and the rest as they say, was pointless <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

That'd make you only a little younger than me, or about the same age. I always thought of you as a forum junkie who'd been around longer than me, and psycologicly i think of everyone on this board that's been here longer than me as older than me, weird.

Heh.  Sorry to respond to this so late, but I'm reading The Odyssey in my spare time, and it's inspiring me to want to go onto a server using the name Teiresias(the seer that Odysseus gets directions from in his "visit" to the land of the dead).

I'm a Star Wars fan.  And when I signed up on Battle.Net for Starcraft, 'Greedo' was taken, so I just hit 3 random numbers.

U sure those numbers have nothing to do with your CPU? <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

<Plaguebearer> Gree- Isn't it about time you upgraded?  No one's used a 386 in a long time.

    Not my computer, no.  Completely random, I assure you. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

I'm I kinda stole the name I have now. Over at the Snark Pit I saw the name DarthYoshi. I took it cause 1) Yoshi is my FAVORITE charecter in that story 2) I like the StarWars seris. SO I just changed it a bit and now I have a nickname.

Wow, interesting stoires anyone, MonsE is best so far <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Damn why I don't have a story, no history? Should bomb the world now, that I think.

    But hey, Sono is unique.

And yes, some of my friends call me Sono and those who do that, _never_ call me by my real name. Funny in some weird way.

Oh /me just remembers some funny thing, in my phonebook in my mobile phone the number of my room is saved under the name "Barad-Dur". <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

In shaolin kung-fu, I got to start practice the "praying mantis" form, using your hands as claws and using heavy pressure to cause great pain >=).. but I thought it was called PrimeMantis at the time.. so that became my name for a few years... then I just got tired of all the questions "isn't it PRAYINGmantis?" sooo.. I  took something completley different <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> hence, DarkMantiZ (yes, it is geeky, but it suits me <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> )

then we have the FF inspired name of OneWingedAngel, but there are about a million of that nickname out there <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

When I signed up for Planetarion I called myself Cmdr. Kassinger of Rakis Prime. And (of course) I haven't seen anyone else use Kassinger since then, so I just kept it. Not to mention that <i>one</i> person on IRC once said it was pretty cool. I'm not to sure about that though. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

On LAN parties playing Half-Life I used to have the nick Bloodlust, but when I found out that that nick was already taken somewhere online, I lost it.

Way back in the days of AOL, while trying to come up with a suitable screen name, and asking my mother for suggestions; she suggests Goofball, but it was taken. So I contracted Goofball to Goof, but it was taken also. So then Goof2037 ultimately formed after some random digitry. I used that name for while, but I eventually got sick of it. And so i began using SteffCaldwell, Which is just a variation of my first name Stephen contracted with my last name. Around that time I began to code in C++ and then to ASP and then to PHP, yay PHP. And an error I would often get in PHP was a "Parse Error". I initially used P4rs3_3rr0r, but it was too difficult to type and eventually became Parse_Error.

I'm sure many Tool fans will think I got my name from the live song named 'Merkaba' on the Salival album. The truth is, I've had this name a lot longer than since that was released, but curiously, I still got the name through Tool.

On their site they recommend a book called "Nothing in this book is true, but it's exactly the way things are.". Within this book, it outlines the nature of the Merkaba, which is supposedly a spiritual energy field that surrounds all living things, and is the vessle by which we ascend to the next level of our evolution/conciousness. In all honesty, I just liked the name.

In Ancient Egyptian, it can be translated as
<b><i>Mer</b></i> - Place of Ascending (or Initiation, such as the Great Pyramid, supposedly.)
    <b><i>Ka</b></i> - Spirit
    <b><i>Ba</b></i> - Light

mine is kinda stupid i think. I was first Crackitoo as i played in a football (soccer for USA ppl) called Cracks (in valencia, run by old Valencia C.F players) and then one day about 2 years ago i had to join i cant remember which forum and Crackitoo was being used (strange) so i start thinking of another nick. I then realised that i always wear some blue clothes, one day the t-shirt, another pants, jacket, etc.... so i said "ok, ill be blueman", and thats it.

I'm sure some ppl are wondering how the heck I thought up something like Khaim? well, a friend of myne had been using the alias Kain for a while, and I took the name and used that, but when CS version 1.3 came out and Mics I decided it sounded to choppy wehn you said it and changed it to Khaim. (side note* i had no idea about the 'legend of kain' seires' at the time)

I used to be a chat room addict when I was young... bout 15 or so. Anyway, I used to pick names randomly as Im rather capricious and fickle but one day I found a chat room I really liked and I had named myself East that particular time (just because my surname is West, hardly thought about it and hadnt used it before). The only problem is I really liked everyone there and wanted them to recognise me so I had to use East again.
It eventually stuck and when I abandoned chat rooms (cos everyone there has 10 inch #####'s and 36DD breasts (hence my 'Lo the beautiful people' phrase I almost always use when I enter a room)) and moved onto online games and forums it was just a natural thing to keep my name as East.
The CM was added after blah blah, already said in the NSF post. My stories always take to long which is why Ive only just posted on this thread, I try to avoid this story as its told so often.

When I signed up for a YahooID (years ago, now), I just clicked 'generate a name for me'. I don't have the heart to change it to anything else (really it's just that I don't want to have to set up all my accounts on forums and stuff all over again). The name sort of grows on you, anyway.

My orginal name was ScubaSteve.  Whenever I would join a server people would say 'OMFG SCUBA! GO THE F**K AWAY YOU RETARD!" Then I see a little 'Kick ScubaSteve? 1 - Yes, 2 - No"  They confused me with some other scuba, there are way too many scubasteve's on the internet so I changed it to SentrySteve.

My name is from Babylonian Mythology. I read the epic of gilgamesh about 5 years ago. So, i got my first e-mail address than and tried Gilgamesh. No luck. Enkidu, nope. (those are the two main characters). Hmmm. . lets see. Whose ### got handed to him on a platter by those two. HUMBABA! So I use Humbaba. Believe it or not, a lot of the time, it's taken whenever I sign up for soemthing. If you see me elsewhere, it might be Humbaba10. Coincidentally, thats my screenname. exciting . . . . .

I watched 'Blade' with Wesley Snipes. I liked 'Blade'. I mean.. Mac-10 - check. SPAS-12 - check. Vampire powers - check. Big-### katana - check. What else do you need?

Oh yeh. Black coat - check.

Used it as a 'back-up' handle on the MSN Gaming Zone for a while (long story, but basically I logged on as Daywanderer instead of with my main handle when I wanted to just play without getting spammed with instant messages).

After a while I realized my old handle was crap, and I was too lazy to come up with a new one. So I stuck with Daywanderer. Now, most people just call me Day, and sometimes Dave (since a friend's daughter misheard him when he called me Day - it was a funny incident).

Nowadays, I'm no longer sure if Snipes is really called 'Daywanderer' in the movie, or if it's just 'Daywalker'. I was sure both nicknames were used, but now.. *shrugs* I prefer wandering over walking anyway <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

The funny thing is, I've <b>never</b> seen anyone else use this handle.
