No, Flayra and the dev team have no intentions to move ns to any other engine. The reason its on the half life engine is because of the amount of people that already have and play other mods on it. -- so whats the count now, 100 seperate threads on moving ns to a different engine? lol. i think it would be cool to move NS to the half life 2 engine, but only time will tell..
lets put it this way.... if NS doesnt go to Source engine........ then ill be forced to go to the moon and make NS for HL2 there... and taht would be cool to tunnel to the hive but think about those times when there is only 1 person left.... o man you would spend hours looking for him if he hid in the right spot

halo does do good with vehicles but so does HL2.... and with that the dev team can get closer to their goal of having Drop Ships in NS..... or so the interview said w/ Flayra about the future of NS
Red faction... yes... the destroyable walls..... bleh

I would love to see ns on doom3, with all the darkness. Would greatly add to the atmosphear. I don't know if it will be the same on hl2. But I can picture an onos just standing there, and u can only see his head because thats all that the light is shining on. Mwuahaha

in all seriousness, it's pretty dark if you play it normal. I think you mean the shadows&such, since I don't think HL can handle that.

Not just the darkness but the shadow and light effects as well as a cool looking engine.

The darkness and atmosphere doesn't usually depend on what engine it's on, guys. It could easily be more atmospheric on Source than on Doom 3, and it could be easily vice versa. It's the content that the mod team creates that makes it dark and gloomy or well lit and unintimidating.

But I think It would be going a little far to say HL can have better atmosphere than such a far superior engine such as source or doom3 based on how much work was put into it. Atmosphere just isn't some engine's thing.

Argh, what the f3ck is the point of these posts? Every other topic gets smarta$$ remarks or facts explained to the original posters that - HELLO - EVERYONE KNOWS ALREADY. And most of these have this irritating "Flayra this" and "Flayra that" and "Flayra said" tone. The most pointless ones are posts like these where the person replying has probably only read the thread topic and, as seen in this case, not even that too well.
People jump at anything, IMHO, just to get a chance to get all smart about something. And way too early/easily, I might add.
Welly you see karrin, some people think a high post count makes you so uber-"elite" that they reply to anything they can, be it meaningfull or not.
Also just to be on topic, i honestly think HL is fine for NS. I'd take a player base of tens of thousands over flashy graphics anyday, and apparently so would a lot of people, hence why HL is still alive and well.
Kinda off topic, but has anyone released a decent mod for Red Faction? This engine has soo much potential, but i havent saw many people use it besides THQ.
Well anyways, I would have liked to see Natural Selection on the Quake 3 engine; why quake 3 you ask? because its the best my shoddy computer can handle .
with the ability to modify the terrain (to perhaps a greater extent than red faction) you could, instead of opening the door normally, WELD IT OPEN LIKE YOU SHOULD.
really, in a interview i read you could either use the gravity gun to knock down the door, use a flame thrower to burn it away (if its wood) use a grenade to blow it up or open it normally. there's also things like drapes and stuff that when you walk into them they move and such like walking into a real drape would. (there's even dust in the levels that are specified by the mapper... no more using entities with fade textures to simulate light beams i think. )
also a single-player mode would be possible since the HL2 AI is designed to figure out how best to help/hurt you. (no more running blindly into that auto-turret! ) ntm it handles outside areas nicely this time. ([you can be outside in a street, and get fair FPS from your machine. try that in HL and you die])
besides, im sure HL2 will completly stomp the HL mod scene 1.5 years after release.
