<div class="IPBDescription">Does this look ok?</div> I'm currently working on a pet project, A Natrual Selection music video set to Rammstein's <b><i><u> Mein Herz Brennt</u></i></b>. basic story: Marine is sent in to see what happened to another group on Hera, the opening scene has the hero's ship exiting a warpgate, preforming a flyby of planet Hera, a flyby of the Hera landing pad, then landing. What i need a little help with is What does Planet Hera look like from orbit? So far, I have the pic at the bottom fully completed, should i redo the skin? Add a ring aroun the planet? less cloud cover? Any critisim is appreaciated. Thanks

thats just a pic???
OR how about using a photo skin! even tho i h8 photo skins, but its worth a try
Yeah, it's a joke. Thats an screenshot in "game" using orbiter. If he's making a movie, I figured it would be better to do something really high res like that (for the ship approaching a planet part) even though it would require him to do that seperately and then join the two vids to create the actual movie (post production schtuff). It would definitely look impressive.
That is what mars would actually look like if it had water (down to the craters and schtuff) <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The program is free, and quite decent. You can find it here if your interested <a href='http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html' target='_blank'>http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html</a>
Thats not to say it can't be done another way, just giving a suggestion <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
it doesnt need to be perfect/a globe/an intergalatic spaceship..
can they stuff to replace holo hologram be replace by anything..
make it look cool
like a toy, lil actionfigure..
anything which is worth looking at will fit there...
i recommend: a whopper (in foil) from hungry jacks
If you can, put a transparent layer above it for the atmosphere, and underneath it the actual land
That was the original concept, but since it had to fit the NS storyline it's in a mars-like planet... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
cus quite frankly, i don't like any of the pics in this thread here... they just don't feel right
although i do like your project!

uhm.. thats wrong.. mars got a atmosphere.(n2, o2, ar, co2,
h2o)and a very "NICE" weather
Mars has more carbon dioxide in its atmosphere than does Earth,
but Mars has a lot less of everything else. theres water under the surface that evaporates
...when theres cold weather on mars you can find h2o frost on the surface..
There is CO2 ice in polar caps. Most of it evaporates in summer.
because the gravitation of mars he lost most of his atmosphere,
but its still enough to have weather conditions
..there are some nasty sand storms up there <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
heres a comparison of the atmospheric composition of earth venus and mars.
its a list of molecules per m2 of surface area of the planet in each planet's atmosphere
relative to the total number of molecules per m2 in Earth's atmosphere.
.............Earth.........Venus.......Mars
N2.......0.79...........2................3 x 10-4
O2.......0.20..........< 0.001......10-7
Ar........0.01............0.005........2 x 10-4
CO2.....0.0003.......64..............0.009
H2O.....~ 0.02.........~ 0.01.....~10-6
Total....1.00...............90...............0.01
--------------------------
H2O........3 km.............0.5 mm..........small
liquid
+ vapor
here we got some nice clear weather... without atmosphere you wont have such a nice sky <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
<img src='http://www.planetary.org/html/Images/mars/81732b.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
some dust in the atmosphere.. but still uhm.."confortable"
<img src='http://www.windows.ucar.edu/mars/images/localdust.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
lil sandstorm
<img src='http://whyfiles.larc.nasa.gov/text/kids/Media_Zone/images/mars10.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
and heres a nasty one.. on the right u can see a global dust/sandstorm... one of the whorsest things that can happen on your mars picknick..
i know there is water on mars, but not enough to warrant the greens on his pics, and about the clouds, well there aren't that many are there?
anyway, thos pics of yours from the hubble should give him some nice idea's
and the clouds are just clouds.. clouds are nothing special.. mars got plenty of water resources.. he evaporates water since millions of years into his thin atmosphere out to space. when you can get enough water into the atmosphere you get nice clouds on mars.. maybe the alienstuff everywhere pruduces so much moisture that theres some kind of terraforming is going on..
