Heavy Armor Sop

Should the HA's be equipped with welders, at the expense of a another gun in combat (if ones welding, he ain't shootin) or should the welder be given to good oscar meyers that stays behind the wall of HA while they fire and makes sure they're all welded up, since he doesn't have a HMG anyway?

    Depends on if you have HA'd everyone. I know on the one fun time I had with HA I had a welder byatch with me to heal my armour as I fought. He did a good job.

    hmg clip got 150 ammo...
    if the HA"s are not noobs they will swap between them giving enough time to relaod and weld...
    pistol are hardly any use for HA's since they are too slow to use it..

    My HA squads tend to use welders as their primary weapon when the squad is larger than 4. I myself have also used it, I can say, it's much more efficient than the hmg since you don't need to reload and get instahealed.

    vs. skulks a pack of HA's should use welder since hmg tbh can't hit skulks from 0 meter range...

    I always ask for a welder if I've been given HA. I figure either I'm going to be holding off Fades from one of our outposts or rushing off to a hive with some other HAs. With option one, the welder will let me heal that phasegate and turret factory in breaks between fighting. Option two means that I can hang around behind the guys with better aim and just hold down the fire button. If one of the front HAs goes down (not likely since I can normally weld back more armour than the aliens can melt/chew off), I can switch to HA and resume firing at the hive in about a second.

    With HA, welder is just generally more useful. I mean, if you've got a HMG and can't kill something with that, what good is a pistol going to do?

    Heavies should always get welders.

    The true power of heavy armor lies in the ability to hold a position under heavy attack. The key to heavy staying power is constant welding.

    A practice I use commonly when I buy heavy armor, is to purchase heavy armor and a welder for every member of the squad before I hand out a single weapon.

    It's funny how people take "always weld" so literally. Sometimes I've been in a HA/HMG squad and people just use welders to weld eachother when 2-hive lerks come. Then we are separated by the lerks and I'm the only one to fire a 25 RP HMG while rest desperately try to weld and die. Not to mention if it's TRULY a HA/HMG squad and not a HA/HMG/GL squad. My last 3 attempts to destroy aliens 2nd hive as HA/HMG have ended up in disaster. Comms usually don't remember to buy a GL, neither do I, and without a GL a HA squad is practically useless against 2 hive aliens. The web is so damn spammable (maybe even overpowered when used in combat) that it forces HAs to use welders while skulks and lerks happily bite with the support of umbra. 2 gorges + webs + lerks umbra + no GLs = disaster for marines.
    Next time when the comm decides to go HA/HMG, I'm going to spam "GIVE AT LEAST 1 GL OR WE ALL DIE!!!". I recommend the same for you. That is if you are going to destroy the hive with the HAs and not use them just to set up a siege base.

    Yea, I generally have one JPer behind my HA force lobbing nades INTO the HA guys. Granted it wouldnt work in a clan match, it is rather effective on pubs, practically eliminates the possibility to bite the HA.

    For the record... I just today experienced my... *gasp*... 4th HA/HMG disaster. This time I did spam "GIVE US A GL COMM OR WE ALL DIE", but the GL man decided to go weld-weld-weld, we ended up getting webbed at one point, got seperated by lerks getting health from DCs under the hive (GL man wouldn't blow them up) and all died. Great.

    GL need the most skills then all... for some reson noob players insist of killing themsleves with GL.. shooting to the ceeling and checking if the granade will explode b4 he will hit th ground(and the noob marine) therefore while maybe u can drop HA hmg @ base .. give your GL to some1 u can trust and knows what he is doing.. GL and SG are the most complicated wepons and require a lot more skills then any other wep

    Well, I did take the GL first, but then I saw a HMG appear and I thought my team would be too n00b to kill anything so I picked the HMG and gave GL away. It was kind of a lose-lose situation: either I pick the GL myself and try to destroy enemy buildings while my n00b mates do nothing with their HMGs or I pick a HMG, kill aliens but am unable to destroy their buildings and webs...

    maybe don't equip all of the ha's with welders, but maybe give 1-2 welders(in a squad of 4, 1 would be good, anything over, go with 2)

    that way, if the welder ha happens to die, another can pick up the welder. The problem with having la welders accompany the has is that, a rushing skulk(assuming they have 2 hives) could leap over the ha's and attack the la. Not to mention the la tends to go down very quickly(even in stray lerk fire intended for the ha's)

    I tend to set up 4 man squads like this 2 get HA and one is a JP I give out 2 HMGs and a GL. I then give out 2-3 welders. One guy (a guy i trust) gets to be the full time welder **** and gets only a LMG since he should be welding. He is allso tasked with trying to **** and grab expensive weapons that get killed outa players hands.
    I figure there is no point in giving them all big guns since your bound to loose at least one guy. Allso, the LMG guy doesnt ammo up, that way he moves fast.

    Hehe, well if res is loose I'd go all welders for the fun, even if alittle tight all welders, im not a good com, but making sure your HA's are as tooled up as possible's good logic to me, even if someone picks up his weapons cos you left some un-tooled that's still 25 res lost, not to mention less chance of the attack suceeding...

    Hehe on the question of pistol or not, hardly ever happens on pubs, but do people ever take mines to assault hive 1 aliens, heh or even if they're going on a little RT capping mission, so they can mine up right away and move on further?

    (And yes GLs are hard to use for the most part, I'm just waiting for the day I learn to use GL/JP together and still hit things dead on, cos that's right bloody hard)

    I prefer being HA with a shotgun, going up close with enemies that would otherwise be eating the HA HMG.

    my squad usually consists of HA/HMG/Welder, HA/HMG/Welder, HA/HMG, HA/GL/Welder

    WHY you say?? the two hmg,s with welders are SUPPORT, they are there for massive incursions, and to weld, the grenade launcher is heavy fire, intended for buildings and massive incursions only, and he has a welder just in case, the ha/hmg is there to battle only, the welders have hmg's in case

    against 1st hive aliens HA is teh w1n..against 2nd hive aliens to if they have a frontwelder and a backwelder with 2+ HMG/SG/GL in the middle, getting welded and not webbed...

    SG in umbra takes some lerks by surprise...
