Should the HA's be equipped with welders, at the expense of a another gun in combat (if ones welding, he ain't shootin) or should the welder be given to good oscar meyers that stays behind the wall of HA while they fire and makes sure they're all welded up, since he doesn't have a HMG anyway?

if the HA"s are not noobs they will swap between them giving enough time to relaod and weld...
pistol are hardly any use for HA's since they are too slow to use it..
vs. skulks a pack of HA's should use welder since hmg tbh can't hit skulks from 0 meter range...
With HA, welder is just generally more useful. I mean, if you've got a HMG and can't kill something with that, what good is a pistol going to do?
The true power of heavy armor lies in the ability to hold a position under heavy attack. The key to heavy staying power is constant welding.
A practice I use commonly when I buy heavy armor, is to purchase heavy armor and a welder for every member of the squad before I hand out a single weapon.
Next time when the comm decides to go HA/HMG, I'm going to spam "GIVE AT LEAST 1 GL OR WE ALL DIE!!!". I recommend the same for you. That is if you are going to destroy the hive with the HAs and not use them just to set up a siege base.

that way, if the welder ha happens to die, another can pick up the welder. The problem with having la welders accompany the has is that, a rushing skulk(assuming they have 2 hives) could leap over the ha's and attack the la. Not to mention the la tends to go down very quickly(even in stray lerk fire intended for the ha's)

I figure there is no point in giving them all big guns since your bound to loose at least one guy. Allso, the LMG guy doesnt ammo up, that way he moves fast.
Hehe on the question of pistol or not, hardly ever happens on pubs, but do people ever take mines to assault hive 1 aliens, heh or even if they're going on a little RT capping mission, so they can mine up right away and move on further?
(And yes GLs are hard to use for the most part, I'm just waiting for the day I learn to use GL/JP together and still hit things dead on, cos that's right bloody hard)

WHY you say?? the two hmg,s with welders are SUPPORT, they are there for massive incursions, and to weld, the grenade launcher is heavy fire, intended for buildings and massive incursions only, and he has a welder just in case, the ha/hmg is there to battle only, the welders have hmg's in case
