Is It Just Me Or?

Are all the vets in the "Losing Interest In Ns 1.1, and why" thread in the beta forum asking for the very things that are in the FAQ that will never be in the game like railguns, hand grenades? It seems to me that they want NS to be just like every other mod out there.

Personally, I think the hardest skill is to get a group of marines to move as a group, covering all directions and not shooting each other in the back. Example, if one marine is in the back of the group and he attempts to keep their rear covered, the other marines will just take off and leave him behind because they forget that checking behind them slows him down.

to see some more teamwork would benefit the marines so much cos as a skulk and one marine (in earls stages is easy to pick off) but many marines would make the aliens have to work as a team as well. also i think NS is the best mod (random comment )

Yes, it would be awsome if people could get team tactics down to that much of a science. In this game engine, and because of the very nature of NS, it is not feasible. This is due to the lack of reward to a team whom learn how to use team tactics like that; to put it simply the only thing less they would have to do is have their comm spam one or two less medpacks. 4rp - big whoop.

The thing that SHOULD be rewarded is teamwork and strategic inginuity, and because both are apparently lacking to these beta testers, they lose interest.

Note: This is not a reflection of my own beliefs, but rather those PT's who have lost interest.

No, I was pretty amazed to see some mighty weird suggestions there. DOD Karbine in NS? A scope in an enviroment such as NS where there is only 1 "long range"-area (at Great Viaduct). Still, I only think they are semi-serious and brainstorming, not something devs will do for 1.1 or even 1.2...

the vets who want counterstrike (/quake/whatever) with aliens will get bored of NS and leave. The ones who want NS with NS gameplay (read design docs) will stay. [shrug]

That or Flayra will give up on his design goals and make cs with aliens.

And at that point I will leave. And yes no-one here cares about me simply beause I haven't joined a clan, etc. but it would mean one less dedicated player.

There are design docs? Where? That seems like one of the PT's biggest gripes is that they don't know what Flayra's overall goals are.

There are more docs out there, but the core of Flayra's concept is here.

Short., but it sums up the point of what he's trying to do.

A lot more info on Flayra'a *original* concept can be found on his site.

Of course, some of the details have changed, but I'd really like to see the general atmosphere maintained.

Of course, the gameplay styles (from the overview) are one of the major draws for me.

I think that a lot of the monotony of the marine in NS comes from players who are afraid to try new tactics.

    Your Mission:

Join a Pub server and command with an experimental tactic. Mix it up a bit.

What is the worst that could happen? (just make sure that you let the players know that the tactic will be different so they dont go "nub comm eject!!!"
