    I don't think I'm a especially good player, but I have no problems killing carapaced skulks without weapon upgrades. Short, controlled bursts my ****, just point, click and hold and the thing is dead.

    Yes, you will kill 1 instead of the 3 or 4 you would normally have. Then you are dead.

    Do you really think that you come across more than 2 skulks on a pub frequently? And 3 skulks is easy too, if they are coming along a long corridor. The first one you kill with the pistol, the next one with lmg and the last with possible remaining lmg bullets and the knife. It's not easy to kill 3 skulks in close combat though, with weapon upgrades or not.

    well it takes 10 pistol bullets to kill level 3 cara skulks. It takes 16 or 19 lmg bullets. So you have to make sure all of your pistol shots connect, and have enough tome to empty a whole entire clip into the remaining skulks without missing much. Pray that the hallway is decently long.

    I see you people probably havent met very good skulks...

    A decent skulk wont run in a way that makes you kill him, at least not with 100% accuracy...

    Having killed 3-4 marines as a carpaced skulk, I know its alot hard to hit one if they move right...

    But the most important thing on pubs, is, that there aren't many so good skulks. If a skulk is good, you don't have the time to shoot him, you probably don't even see him before the first bite. Most of pub only players are only good with fades and onoses, some with lerk. But skulk? No...

    Any experienced ns player would know turrets are far less effective than mines against skulks - a 19 res turret can be taken out by 1 circlestrafing skulk if not defended - you wont find that with mines.

    And you put mines on the floor so skulks will step on them when they are trying to bite marines in the area, so you cant say "Clever skulks will just dodge the mines", the mines are on the floor to explode when the skulk jumps all over the place whilst being shot by marines.

    And when im phase gate rushing i build 3 armouries and just mine spam and slowly get res/upgrades - easiest way to do it. A bit lame tho.


    Also - yes its easy killing ONE skulk with cara 3, if you dont have weapon upgrades, but 2-3? Your dead.

    IMO, mines are only usefull when there is a guard nearby. If I see a mined area as a skulk, I'm forced to slow down and sneak trhough to eat the building, or, failing that, suicide on a mine or 2 to get access. A marine firing at me does not give me time to check the area for vunrable spots. Even a n00b who can bairly aim can get me killed if I accidenty step on a mine while trying to get in a position to bite him. At any rate, TFs and mines only serve to buy time for marines to save the location, as a clever skulk or lerk can trash 50+ rez worth of structures.
