Electrified Turret Factories

<div class="IPBDescription">GOOD balance question</div> A few questions regarding the "electrified tfacs" have come to mind. Hopefully a vet/pt or flayra can anwser this

What stops players from stacking up turret factories in a hallway near an alien hive, electrifying them and then turreting up the unexposed areas?

How are the turret factories powered? Is there a discernable source of their power? Can they be "sabatoged" by aliens by destroying this central source (if it exists)

    lol well I guess the resources will stop you from stacking a load of tfs <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Electrified tfacs cannot be stacked or any marine structure for that matter. You can put alot of them together and electrify them *which costs alot* although this strat is totally inefficent. 1 gorg with bilebomb will totally wipe the tfacs out. I'm not sure how they are powered, although i believe it involved goblins and treadmills.

    He's quite right, you will not be able to stack Marine structures, and if the Marines have enough spare res to create a low-level wall of electrifed TF's, then it really dosn't matter on the Alien side.

    do electrified TFs use up res while they are all electricy?

    Electrifying rsr's/tf's do not drain any rsr's from the marines but it does cost 20 rsr's to upgrade the eletricity.

    AFAIK the electricity isn't actually linked directly to the national grid, its not gonna char grill anything within distance, also, i belive it has a limited number of nme's it can "spark" at one time, so can be taken out by grouped attacks

    Electrified tf sounds interesting.... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Anyways, I was thinking that since the tf are now electrified and harder to destroy, can their possibly be a limit on how much ammo or turrets these things can produce? I have seen games in which commanders turret spammed everything, and it was almost impossible to get in. Now with this electrifed tf...it might now seem harder to destroy...

    Any comments?

    hopefully a few gorges with bilebombs can counter that.

    A bunch of aliens with ranged weapons could easily take those TFs out,
    unless some marines are continuously repairing them <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Wait, I forgot that you couldn't stack TFs or other structures anymore in 1.1.

    Plus another counter for Elec TF spamming, use the good ol' 'Use the vent stupid to get around, stupid'.

    Do they have less health or something like that? They ought to have the same protection against ranged attacks, but less protection from melee. Just to make it a leeeetle easier.

    Well, you cant stack marine buildings but you can fill up a hallway with them if you want. Power is not a factor in this. Just use imagination.

    I was able to stack electric TFs once. I don't know if I can duplicate it, but it did happen.

    well they are way to easy to take down in 1.04 so 1.1 addressed that making them harder to take down. Also if you really want to you can always onos them down now. The only thing that will make elec tf's overpowered is raising damage too much, and I believe they pt'ed that and then reduced it.
  • DraconisDraconis Join Date: 2003-02-18 Member: 13722Members, Reinforced - Onos
    A skulk with level 3 regen can take down 1 elec tfac. Elec is not overpowered imo.

    i have a feeling its 20 res PER res/tf too.. which means.. to block a door with 4 of them will cost 160 res.. on top of that.. plus, you need to be able to build it.. so like 3 HA's will have a chance at that (makes sense that 3 ha's would rather spend 10 minutes building to kill the hive instead of walking into it and killing it right? )

    You can stack buildings in 1.04, you just have to placee them exactly right.. tis a bug. You have to place them almost on top, and hope it stacks.

    Here are a few pics of us messing around late at night doing it. (i added URL's in case the forum wont let u seem em)

    Note the stacked seiges, as well as in the last one, 18, the stacked TFs.

    whats the range and damage of the elec TF?

    in a diff thread, some one said it was 50damage twice a second?! if thats the case, then a skulk gets fried in .. errr 1.5 seconds? :o i think.

    do they have very short range? ie: could u put one in a junction and expect most skulks running through it to get nailed? or do u have to be in V close proximity? thanks

    The range of elec is approxatively 3 time the range of bite.

    It does 10ish damage/second. Here is something to see the damage done by elec:
    An unupgraded skulk biting an elec RT will put the RT to 50% health before dying.

    As far as I know lerk still has spikes. It lost bite. Also, acid rocket is third hive.

    *cough* Lerk keeps the spikes, but their damage is reduced by a bit. Acid Rocket is third-Hive.
    Problem is, a Lerk will have to sit there and spike for going on two or three minutes to take out an elec TF/RT, NOT counting energy regen time. It honestly seems a lot quicker to just grab a regen skulk and take it down.

    So regen on a skulk actually has a use now? Cool

    can the electric tf zap alien structures/hives? it would be pretty funny to put a few of them under a hive and upgrade them then watch the electricity zapping the hive to death as you guard them.
