<div class="IPBDescription">it cant be!!!</div> Babblers were funny as heck, combined with webbing they were absolutely hilarious. I don't think they really served any strategic purpose though, at least a major one.
Babblers were fun, and pretty much the only way for a gorge to kill a building, bilebomb will take care of that much better though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
It would be nice tho if you could give yourself babblers using sv_cheats, just like you can give yourself other weapons. Just for the sake of nostalgia <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Otherwise, I wouldn't miss them much.
Babblers were great end game fun. Not useful for much else, though. It would be a nice Admin command to sick a large number of Babblers on someone. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

babblers were really fun, but by the time the gorg gets them, it's hard to get to use them (the base is being bombed by fades and onos) so good ridance
Babblers were good for one thing at least. In a mix of a bunch of babblers, you could never distinguish them from the skulks. Supposing their defense was mined and heavily guarded, the only way skulks could get inside and xenocide was for babblers to be sent in first
Babblers only make me laugh.. They are only use for scaring the crap outta the marines.. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Babblers were the greatest humor weapon! Obviously this means we need a fourth hive, because 3 means the gorge can't do silly things like send kamikaze cannon fodder!
But, seriously, they did have one use... As Hawkeye said, they buy your skulks the precious few moments to get in an xenocide... And after 2 or 3 quick xenocides, the base is open for a babbler rush! Okay, well, not really true since they tended to have turrets, but so the idea goes.
Lately the last games that I have played didn't had the typical ending phrase : Oh nos !!! . But it was kinda : Nooo! Babblers !! Used well they can be tremendous. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I'll miss them <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
well.... in 1.1 you will see ALOT more gorg pwnage.. so.. even without the babbler the gorges are sexyer then ever <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.
I think that when a hive is attacked it spews out one babbler for every 100 points of damage...
Just add some chaos to the final assult on the alien hives, and it makes it easier for skulks to have some sort of a comeback if they are gettin spawn camped.

That might be a good idea to work from. However, a babbler every 100 damage means at least 60 babblers are created in killing a hive. If they were created every 400 damage that would be more reasonable. However, they don't help at all against a siege.
i think the gorge should be able to build babblers like chambers, or maby build a babbler hive, which would spew out a babbler ever so often...........
I'll miss those little guys :'( Gorge+3 hives+Adren+Scent of Fear=deadly babbler fountain. I used to love sitting on the ramp into the hera marine base, surrounded by webs and launching babblers into the air, directing them at the pretty red circles
Us babbler lovers stand strong! so sad that babblers are gonna b gone <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->.. looks like no more spamming them ouside marine base in eclipse and watch em sink, then move around udnerground and pop up and eat the marine like jaws <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> (i will miss you babbly!!!)
its sort of ironic, in 1.1 when nothing will blow mines up now (unless i'm wrong) the babblers would actually have a decent role in clearing a path for everyone else. As soon as a vague use for them arrives, they leave <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
If I had a vote I would vote Yes to Babblers (improving them anyway), but I understand the decision, unlike the other two changes which have made my 1.1 hatelist: alien scores removal and lerk being turned into an annoying newb class as far as public games are concerned. *sniff* gone is the sophisticated aerial striker - in its place a simplistic spammer.
I want them back but with Fades. I tried to introcude a new Fade weapon that shoots out a flying babbler (it has wings) that fires spikes on the enemy. It would be funny to shoot some into marine base.
i think babblers are pretty good distractions against noobie marines, tho the coding was pretty dire. like as said, by the time the three hives are up and you got the ablity everyone would rather storm in as onos if they ain't already doing so as fades.
i remember holding the 'rines back by dropping bablers from an elevated platform and succeeding in killing them. it always was nice to see the 'rines flee in terror before a brood of bablers. i'll miss them little fella's. it perhaps could be a new building idea? you could maybe place one or two in one region(like a hiveroom), and they would force the 'rines to do some more teamwork to get OC batterys down instead of the couch behind a coner and shoot tactic. individual they would suck, but when placed together with a couple o' OCs they could let the 'rines reconsider trying to rambo a hive without any kind of enhanced weaponry or teammys.
lerks always were intended for support, now they emphasize that role by removing bite(i always never used bite anyway) and giving him a few other support skills. i think noobs are gonna have much trouble of being a good lerk, they might have spore/umbra spam but i have always been vexed when a 'rine with decent aim got up close and personal while i tryed to flee(yeah, i'm kinda a coward sometimes) and not noticed the lack of adrenaline preventing me from fleeing.
i am wondering what will happen with the ELS(elite lerk syndicate) though. weren't they those, lerks-must-use-bite-to-be-skillfull guys?
the fact that noone can destroy mines anymore is annoying, they could eiter make them do FF and/or chain reaction

It was fun during the final assault on a marine start all of us went gorge, then rushed the place. four babbled away, 2 webbed like crazy and 1 dropped offense and defense chambers. (he died as soon as he dropped one, siege cannons. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

I agree that it's much easier to just give another skill rather than coding AI for babblers...
It's a good practice in coding... know when to let go or start over....
