This almost isn't worth an entire thread to itself, but *shrug*
I'm just wondering, since the bite is gone the lerk has no real way to kill buildings, if the spikes could do extra damage against buildings? Perhaps x1.5 damage or something similar, although I don't have the numbers figured out or anything, but I don't think that it will be that unballancing. Just enough to move the lerk up from being totaly support, and make it a threat on its own. (Even if its not to the marines themselves)

The lerk is actually going to have a global spike damage upgrade;
16 -> 18

Ahh, thank you. This is the first time I've heard anything about this. I read the change log and assumed that the only thing that was changed was that the damage was lowered.
I'm confused on how the lerker is going to protect him :/.
Anyways, the gorg has gained the ability to kill buildings in v1.1... so i guess taking it away for lerks just balances it out.
Anyway, maybe I should clarify that the '5 in 2' are an estimate of mine. Heh .. that means that not only does the 1.04 spike animation NOT show where you hit, but the ROF of the spikes (which seems to be about 10 spikes/sec) and the ROF of the actual weapon (at 2? in 1.04?) has no connection with each other?
That aside, you are looking at about 80 hits over 2 seconds as long as the energy lasts. It the energy cost the same? Ie, you have about 10-15 seconds of spiking before you run out of energy?
Assuming that, it takes 15 seconds for a non-adren alien to regain his energy, that would mean that the sustained damage is on the order of 20 hits/sec ... 3000 hits to take down an RT, so it's about 150 seconds or 2.5 minutes worth of spiking and resting (halv that if you got adren and/or lots of MC's around). A skulk does it in 30 seconds, or five times faster.
I can sense a real feeling of frustration as a lerk here...
well as I haven't seen the new spit, I don't know how that will be. anyway gorge isn't supposed to fight really. Ah ..I just checked the ROF in 1.04 - it's about 5 shots per second if you got energy, 1.6 shots per second if you are out of energy.
In 1.04, an adrenalized lerk takes down a RT in 1 minute with spikes. Without adrenaline, it takes about 2.5 minutes.
Sure the ROF is increased in 1.1?

I'm not sure about this one. I fired up a lan game on my system, which is running 1.0, and turned on the "show visual damage" option in HL. Parasite wasn't hurting structures when I used it. Maybe since 1.0 this has changed.
