The Hive Voice Is A Comedian?

I was playing in a server, 2 aliens vs 3 marines. I was alien. We had no choice, so I was building a ton of OCs and DCs, and marines with JPs were coming in and getting slaughtered left and right, and suddenly the hive voice said

"This place is a mess!"

The other alien heard it to...and yes it WAS the hive voice.

Anyone else run into this?


Why did it say that? It's called alien_mess in your sounds/hud directory

    yes its quite common.
    There are many other saying like "Now we Dance" as well.
    The more you play the more you will run into them.

    there are plenty of speculation threads, look around for them.
    Apparantly it randomly chooses if the "easter egg" will be heard or not that round. And if it's yes, then if a certain condition is met it plays that song. I don't really know the condition, sorry.

    search doesnt work for me. Everytime I create/edit/search, all I get is a PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED message. If I refresh, then my post is fine, but if I refresh for search, it says I never chose a forum (which I did).

    Mind giving me a few threads?

    this place is a mess is when theres a lot of chambers in one room, presumably in a messy orientation.

    ive heard "we need better players" once and it was when the alien team was doing just horribly.

    never heard "this is my hive..." without admin intervention.

    i dont think things such as chambers or marines weapons activate it, because ive heard 'This place is a mess!' at the start of the game <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->


    i think it may be triggered when the hive is in a high state of arousal, which it is when it sees my little gorgey butt wiggle.

    I have heard sometimes in different mods voices from scientists of normal HL saying for example : Hello! or Who ate my donuts? ...etc..
    I know this is from a admin command , anyone knows where can I find information about how to play those sounds?? .     "Now we Donce" - Heheh. A nod to NS's IRC community, who coined the expression "donce" (a mispelling for dance).

    This one is caused by building a hive within a short amount of time after a kill. Yes, it means kill someone as a Gorge, then build the hive. You just cleared the hive and took it over, so it's yours. :-)

    I just loved it when someone put up a third hive and I immediately started my gestation into an onos. I heard my hive declare: "Now we dance" - it made me laugh.

    And surely it says "dance" and not "donce" - unless it pronounces "donce" in an american accent. I just assumed it used an English accent to say "dance". Sort of similar to how some people say "grass", "glass", "fast", etc.

    I was under the impression that it said pounce with a heavy accent on the ou, like ponce. But it's true--it's donce, not pounce.

    'This place is a mess' happens when there are all kinds of chambers around I think. Its definitely to do with chambers, I hear it all the time when there are no marines about. Usually the place is a mess but last time I heard it the chambers werent too bad.

    The command is speak

    I've also heard of something like admin_speak, but hasn't worked for me.
    Only you can hear the 'speak', but 'admin_speak' can be heard by your team.

    speak one,two,three

    uhh, that's the halflife voice.

    These are coming from the HIVE VOICE. They are sound files in your ns/sounds/hud directory
