I hate to compare NS to other games, *cough*AvP*cough*, but I was wondering if there were plans to rotate the player's view when climbing on walls, or a roof? Like rotate the view upside-down when you're on the ceiling...

i looked at the video closer and it seems Flayra joined the game when that marine appears and Flayra is on the "was killed" side of a death message just after the last bite.

one thing though, the symbols to the right, they aren't really following the screen, they "lag" behind and that was a little irritating, also, BOBs claws didnt move as he walked?..

Nice to see NS in motion, hope sticking to the cieling is easier than in NSTR and was that a one hit kill by the bob?
Rather than use a camcorder it would be better to rig up a video recorder and use a video out recording. Lets you get very good sound and framerate as well as no lighting problems like you would get from a camcorder.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! But, what are those two white wing-ish looking things that appear on the right of the screen while he's climbing? Are those the climbing indicators?
They don't lag ingame. At least, i have never felt a lag of these, while i sometimes had a ping of 300...

I'm pretty sure that was a bot. Look in the upper-left just before "Flayra" joins the game and you should see something like "Adding bot to game..." So don't worry, everyone's favorite coder/project leader/deity is still alive and well. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, it's a cool video, but you guys have no idea how much you're missing, in terms of sounds, clearer graphics with the overbrightening factor, and just the general chaos and intensity that ensues when you're playing with actual people. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> It's really gonna be worth the wait when you guys play it.
But Gen()cide has a good point... what do wallclimbing aliens look like? Do they look upside down when they are on the ceiling?

It's very hard to see in the video, but there are audio and visual cues that I'm hitting or missing (blood, flinch, and Marine yells).

More than a lot of trouble. Without proper AV equipment, it would be impossible using the HL technology alone.

This is a problem with the demo to movie conversion process. It does not happen in game. The claws are not yet completely animated, and don't 'walk' yet in the v_model.

That's what I was talking about. The camcorder is (naturally) a video recorder, and I would be setting up an s-video connection to it. Then I can use it's USB connector to transfer off the DAT onto the harddrive to manipulate in an editing app.

There will not be inverted viewing if you're hanging upside down on the ceiling. It induces motion sickness in a lot of people, and is just too hard for casual players to use.

He will definitely have his p_model inverted when he's on a ceiling. That code just hasn't been added yet.
and yeah monse that video is really fun to watch :) Now we need some footage of the marines tearing it up :D

When you said camcorder the first time I thought you meant doing shakeycam heh.
Also, will there be the option to turn the icons off (indicating you can climb and all other such newbie things, not things like hivesight) in version 1? It seems like after a while they might become redundant.

I actually think having the aliens see the Commander icon (when they within range)is no big deal, and is helpful to newer players.
You will be able to turn off 'helper icons' and messages in the Multiplayer menu, without affecting ability icons like hivesight.
As for the 'view from mouth', that has already been talked to death in another recent thread. I know that statisically, most of you are former CS players, but you need to leave the old 'game realism' prejudices at the door. The model would look really boring if we just had an unanimated alien snout sticking out of the bottom of your screen, right?

I didn't find AVP's alien wallclimbing to be disorienting at all - I thought it was actually cool, and the NS "Magnet on yer head" wallclimb is a little dissapointing... Oh well.
also if u note it says
"creating bot" right before it says flaya has joined the game, so that explains why hes 'out of it'
