<div class="IPBDescription">But i have one question...</div>That wallclimbing video is amazing!!! The game looks beautiful. That is ALMOST how I pictured the wallclimbing.

I hate to compare NS to other games, *cough*AvP*cough*, but I was wondering if there were plans to rotate the player's view when climbing on walls, or a roof? Like rotate the view upside-down when you're on the ceiling...

    It was decided a long time ago that this will not happen due to it making people feel sick and the fact that it is very easy to get lost and dissorientated.  Don't let this make you think the way it works now is bad though, its a very easy way  of doing it and is alot easier to use than when the view is rotated.

    i looked at the video closer and it seems Flayra joined the game when that marine appears and Flayra is on the "was killed" side of a death message just after the last bite.

    one thing though, the symbols to the right, they aren't really following the screen, they "lag" behind and that was a little irritating, also, BOBs claws didnt move as he walked?..

    but smaller issues aside.. I loved it XD

    Looks great although I think the jaws are a bit too stationary.
    Nice to see NS in motion, hope sticking to the cieling is easier than in NSTR and was that a one hit kill by the bob?

    Rather than use a camcorder it would be better to rig up a video recorder and use a video out recording. Lets you get very good sound and framerate as well as no lighting problems like you would get from a camcorder.

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!  But, what are those two white wing-ish looking things that appear on the right of the screen while he's climbing?  Are those the climbing indicators?

    these are symbols that show you what upgrades you have got.
    They don't lag ingame. At least, i have never felt a lag of these, while i sometimes had a ping of 300...

    the only beef i have so far is the wall climbing, i whish it was done like in avp, where you fov gets flipped around, so that you always see "ground" below you, the disorienting effect is kinda neat

    I'm pretty sure that was a bot.  Look in the upper-left just before "Flayra" joins the game and you should see something like "Adding bot to game..."  So don't worry, everyone's favorite coder/project leader/deity is still alive and well.  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Anyway, it's a cool video, but you guys have no idea how much you're missing, in terms of sounds, clearer graphics with the overbrightening factor, and just the general chaos and intensity that ensues when you're playing with actual people.  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->  It's really gonna be worth the wait when you guys play it.

    Looks really great! One thing that I want to know is, when other players see a Bob climbing a wall, espeically on top of the ceiling, will it show them actually upside down related to where they are climbing? Since the veiw does not change, it would be strange to see a bob floating in his upright position near the ceiling.

    It's very hard to see in the video, but there are audio and visual cues that I'm hitting or missing (blood, flinch, and Marine yells).

    More than a lot of trouble. Without proper AV equipment, it would be impossible using the HL technology alone.

    This is a problem with the demo to movie conversion process. It does not happen in game. The claws are not yet completely animated, and don't 'walk' yet in the v_model.

    That's what I was talking about. The camcorder is (naturally) a video recorder, and I would be setting up an s-video connection to it. Then I can use it's USB connector to transfer off the DAT onto the harddrive to manipulate in an editing app.

    There will not be inverted viewing if you're hanging upside down on the ceiling. It induces motion sickness in a lot of people, and is just too hard for casual players to use.

    He will definitely have his p_model inverted when he's on a ceiling. That code just hasn't been added yet.

    yeah, i'm one of those people who got a little motion sickness playing avp1 (but strangely, not avp 2 at all...). also some games where your screen tilts when you strafe left/right bothers me too.. its ONLY screen tilting, every other type of motion possible is just fine. so wierd... heh

    and yeah monse that video is really fun to watch :) Now we need some footage of the marines tearing it up :D

    Maybe rotating view could be a client side option for players? Ok it would leave some players with a disadvantage but hopefully not much of one...

    When you said camcorder the first time I thought you meant doing shakeycam heh.

    I really liked the video, but I noticed that the aliens have an icon on their screen that gives them visual indication of where the default command center is.  Will this be in the final version?  I have no idea if it will actually effect gameplay or not, but It seems like they shouldn't have that "sense" so to speak.

    Also, will there be the option to turn the icons off (indicating you can climb and all other such newbie things, not things like hivesight) in version 1?  It seems like after a while they might become redundant.

    grrr, people, just because yourt HUD is his claws and teeth, inside his mouth, does NOT mean his eyes are there, its just so you can get the feel like you are IN bob.  Games are not realistic in that way, since when do you hold a shotgun at your waist? NEVER.  See my point?

    I actually think having the aliens see the Commander icon (when they within range)is no big deal, and is helpful to newer players.

    You will be able to turn off 'helper icons' and messages in the Multiplayer menu, without affecting ability icons like hivesight.

    As for the 'view from mouth', that has already been talked to death in another recent thread. I know that statisically, most of you are former CS players, but you need to leave the old 'game realism' prejudices at the door. The model would look really boring if we just had an unanimated alien snout sticking out of the bottom of your screen, right?

    Man, why is it so hard for people to grasp some of this games concepts. I much rather sacrifice any "realism" for gameplay in any game. Well, that aside. That movie was great and showcases the great work you guys did on bob and also that view from the mouth is great. It really puts you "inside" bob and how it chops down looks wonderful. Anyway, keep up the good work.

    I didn't find AVP's alien wallclimbing to be disorienting at all - I thought it was actually cool, and the NS "Magnet on yer head" wallclimb is a little dissapointing... Oh well.

    in my opinion the inverted camera thing (since a few ppl have brought it up) should be an option, it starts off but u can turn it on

    also if u note it says
    "creating bot" right before it says flaya has joined the game, so that explains why hes 'out of it'
