More screenies (ns_phobia)
Well, in May phobia will have 1 year and I still haven't finished it, so... well.
Here are some revised / new screenshots, the map is about 80% or so, but I won't post ALL THE SHOTS, just this ones...
I'm not pretty good at starting posts Anyways, here you are (pics don't look like in-game due to jpg compression):
1.- Water purifiers. I have modified this one like hundreds of times...

Water, moving, it's like... a transparent pipe
Love the lighting and infestation.. but the pic with the red water... it's way toop shiny.
Do not make the water func_water.. just make it a normal brush with a !water texture on it.

Well, that's the only water in my map where I actually made the water func_water (nice phrase), because it didn't look pretty right being opaque, when it was a simple water texture (the ! prefix) people told that it looked... strange, so I changed and noone complained again
Maybe I can lower the FX Amount, but I'd say it looks right as it is now ingame... :\
Sure, that corridor is still under development (I wouldn't name a corridor like that...) Spect to see some more techy / destroyed version of it.
Anyhow, looks very niceness...
[edit] and zazi how could you do such a thing? you are kidding, right? [/edit]
More, more!
I agree. It either needs to be a much darker blue/whatever color or it needs to be a static texture so it can be lit properly. do players ever interact with that water?
Please ignore the ladder to get to the node, that will change to something more visually appealing and functional. (noone would put a ladder there to get up since it's not really high...)
if it is lots of praise i can write a paragraph for you.
if it is constructive criticism and challenge you are looking for, i suggest semi-regular playtesting.
even if it isnt done, it could help you a lot in terms of development to know how these areas play.
archiving hive was lots of fun during playtests even when it was nearly fullbright and used a single texture.
i love new maps, so yeah...
I just need to put one or two rooms in the left part of the layout and three or four rooms + 3rd hive on the right zone of the layout (maybe a little more, this is just an estimation). Also note that there are no r_speeds problems
It's not finished, but you can see in the overview how the map is looking
About the water texture... maybe it would be good to make the water a solid brush or something else that can be properly lit and use the in-game color (with shadows) as a base for your own texture. You can change FX Amount to whatever you want as soon as you have a well shaded texture!
(I never tried it, but this forum is always inspiring me to think different.)
If you do so... and it works... would you post a picture of it?
I really hope you finish this.
