Actually...

I don't know, it seems EVERY picture is different.

And another just for good measure.

If someone hadn't of put text in the first screenie, you'd actually be able to see the legs.

But yeah, the legs are bulky and solid, not comprised of many differant sections.

That's the thing, nearly every image of the armor is different and there's no detailed picture (you'll only get a few quick shots of it in the movies) of the back of the suit.

Anyway, I updated the pic in the first post. I'm fairly satisfied with it and probably won't be changing it anymore (I might tweak the shoulders some). I changed the boots quite a bit but it's not really noticeable in the pics. The model with the visor up totals at 2040 polys and with the visor down (head and faces in the helm deleted) it's 1708. I'll most likely make them both and let you guys choose what one you want to use.

I still don't have a skinner but I'll just get to work on making one myself (this might take a while). Here's a pic of the model without any smoothing, it doesn't look a pretty but you get a better look at the faces.

I basically modeled the boots after watching the Battle on Amerigo movie from SC and in that vid you can see the boots actually have quite a few sections. You also might not be getting a good look at their shape because of the shading added with a lack of any skin. I'll post a post for you guys once I get it skinned, it should give a much better look.

One last thing. I believe that the SC gauss Rifle was going to be for the HMG so I wasn't really planing on useing the Smartgun animations. Besides, mixing StarCraft and AVP is just wrong

Why dont' it like this, in ns there are 2 types of the marines one black guy and one white guy you could just have the visor up for the white guy and visor down for the black guythat way you get them both, but its up 2 you, very nice model.

No you can't - those are two different skins, not models. And this SC marine is going to be for HA, I believe, which currently doesn't support multiple skin families.
• JimJim Join Date: 2002-11-26 Member: 9989Members
well i renamed a warhammer model for use as ha and it switches between 2 skins

Aha. That's good to know. However, the fact remains that you can't have a one with the visor up and one with it down - on;y different skins.

so far its the most accurate model ive seen based on the SC reference pics. Find a l33+ skinner for this l33+ model.

p.s can u work with the modeller for the sc gause rifle and make a simultaneos SC marine pack! bleh...it doesnt matter how its realeased just continue working on it but take ur time

just wondering can u also release a version that is for LA? ( use LA skeleton )
some of us like to use this model as light marines

No need, just re-name it soldier.mdl

that wouldn't work, the animations would all be botched up
• JimJim Join Date: 2002-11-26 Member: 9989Members

it will work,
but my point for not just simply renaming the model is that i want to use the visor up model for LA, so that the head inside teh power armor can move

and maby for an idle animation he could mess around with the visor
• UnleetUnleet Join Date: 2002-10-29 Member: 1715Members
About animating the visor... It should be possible but it would require me to add an extra bone or a dummy at the least and I would have to do the same to every set of bones in all the animations so that they'll match with the reference. I would then have to make sure all the animations still work correctly and that I didn't mess anything up. I could do it but it would be a lot of extra work for just a small thing like moving the visor.

I'm looking into how to get 2 skins to work and I'm suspecting it's a line in the QC file but I'll have to find it.
• KuBaNKuBaN Join Date: 2002-11-16 Member: 8979Members, Constellation
If it'll take too much time then I don't think you should spend it. I mean, I'm not gonna sit in base going, "Ok Jim, now stand still so I can see you flip your visor up."

For the soldier models, there's this that lives between the reference and attachments sections:

CODE

// 2 skin families
$texturegroup skinfamilies
{
{ "head.bmp"  "arms.bmp" }
{ "head_black.bmp"  "arms_black.bmp" }
}

Hope that helps.

I think this model should be for LA, mainly because there isn't anything else that I could possibly think of to replace LA in SC (ghosts and civilians are just stupid.)
