<div class="IPBDescription">Recruits wanted for frontier defense.</div> Well before all you people say "Hey this is in the wrong forum section!" hear me out becasue this may not be what you think it is. im trying to appeal to players who dont like the normal "clan" and so dont go to the clan forum.

This post is to all you NS players who are one or more of the following: serious player, older mature player (Must be 18 or older) team work oriented. This is to all those of you older players who want a good gaming team base with out the immature, "you h4x OMG! comm give me ammo amo now", people involved. I want role models people.

Recently as I play the game an scroll though the topic posts I have been seeing a lot of the same problems that everyone one else is talking about.

No one wants to be commander.
No one wants to build the base.
marines/aliens never win ( I personaly disagree with this one but many still say it's an issue)
lack of teamwork etc (this is key, especialy if you play as marines a lot like me.)

Now only if there was perhaps some sort of unity, a sense of team spirit, coordination, maybe then the game would be a lot better.

"Well then join a clan dummy!" many would say. yes perhaps but like many older players, we have this stuff called, Jobs, kids, college, 40 page papers due, working on sales presentation to get the next bidders account stuff in the way etc. You guys know who u are, im a college student with 2 jobs ok, there is my reasoning. I would love a "clan like organization" but I dont have time for all the clan meetings, matches, competitions, practices etc.

Well to answer all your hopes here is what I propose.
I am trying to setup (If enough people are interested) a group of people (Dont get this confused with a clan).

Basically you all have a team tag like that OWG ( i think thats it, that site where u sign up to make a comitment to not cheat and u put that tag on your name)

There IS NO madatory meetings, matches, practices, "clan responisiblities" of any sort. Just one rule.
When you play, act nice, dont trash talk, be respectful, be team helpful (help newbies get involed with NS etc) , cooperate. work together.

Now what's the advantages u say?

1. When you join and put the tag on it's a sign to others that you are a team player. Not some cocky fool that pays no attention to anyone (you know waht I mean, there is a difference between a rambo and an agreesive team player)

2.If we get a lot of players to join you all can work together when we see each other in whatever server. etc.

3. No skills required to join. I dont care if you are a complete bungling fool. As long as you have team spirit and a postive attitude you are welcome to join.

4. No tryouts. <==Self explanitory

5. A sense of team unity and belonging.

6. You can join or leave any time you want. (Unless there is some documented proof of you being a total a-hole imature player etc.

7. There is no ranks given out. When this happens people usualy start to pull rank and make life miserable for others.

Tag would look like this. ex, TSA[e]Davis

Now whats that e stand for?

Well I was thinking that when you join you put a little letter that coorisponds with your playing style.
If you are a good commander put the letter c
If you love to run and gun put the letter a for assault
If you like to build things and repair armour and seal vents you can put e for engineer.
If you like to use stealth, sneak around in vents, find a hive put r for recon.
This is to allow commanders and teamates to know who is good at what.

If anyone can make a simple web site contact me.
If any official NS dev team or forum moderators/admins want to join/sponser us tell me you guys can be technical advisors lol. (If the NS team doesnt want to be associated with us thats fine too its their decision.)
One of the main parts of this clan would to help and encourge new players to get involved with NS and to add new people to the fan base.

The whole point of this is to allow a bunch of serious players to get together informally and use teamwork when you guys see each other in the servers. Depending on how you guys feel about this, post feed back or if u want to join and help me start this email me at
dbw_intelof@yahoo.com

If this sounds like any other clan to you sorry, But i was hoping to apeal to people who dont go to the clan forum for the reasons i stated above.

    try joining a private server.

when i play at Dexworld i have a much better time because everyone there took the time to register on the forums and receive the password. it eliminates noobs who are just looking for the lowest ping servers or their fav map.

I have some interest if this gets enough people.

I'm also capable of designing and hosting a website.

yeah this is kinda what i've been looking for. i don't have the time to play in a clan (i'll just get cut) and i never find any good servers. only problem i find is you said over 18??? what if i was 16? i'm not a stupid "h4x" talker.... i don't talk much.. just gimme orders and i'll follow them. i love this game but find myself struggling for a real nice experience... everyone has stories to tell about their best game and quite honestly i don't think i have. well, maybe one or two .. but i've been playing NS since its release.

Was never really interested in a clan, but I do like your idea. I normally just play on CFOR's server where regulars play and the game stays fun. One thing about the tag, putting the small letter in describing your gameplay could be used as a small advantage to another person on the other team if they understood what it meant. I would think just asking your teamate in the game what they prefer would work just fine. Still this is a nice idea. Id join as long as you have a good code of conduct policy that be great. Good luck.

I think it's a great idea. It would be great once you have a good amount of participation. On the other hand, how would you keep a griefer from using the tag?

Anyway, best of luck on implementation - I gotta go pick up my sister from after-school.

Good idea, We use to have something like that in tribes 1. Although im in a clan I never get to do anything other then were the tag becuase like you im in school, have a baby on the way and work.
Only reason I havent been kicked out is becuase I was co-founder and the regimental commander is my best friend..

i'm interested - sent you an email, Cpl.Davis

the idea of the little tags for what you specialise in is a great idea too, should help comm do their job better (by giving me a welder and shotgun instead of mines or HMG...)

i don't see how it could be used as an advantage. lets them guess your equipment loadout perhaps (eg: assault has hmg, engineer has welder etc)

maybe include a 'd' for defender as well - there's usually one or two that hang around bases/outposts to protect them. they can also protect engineers while they weld vents and stuff...

Give that man a cooky! This is possibly the best idea I've ever heard for increasing gameplay and user-friendlyness! If I wasn't already clanned I'd be right in there and I encourage EVERYONE (excluding nasty people) to sign up!

Was just saying it could be a small advantage. Like when I see a regular player thats uses a certain style of play, I use tactics to counter. There are players that can take any bit of information and put it to great use. Was just a constructive thought, nothing more. Il be sending him an email about joining myself.

18!!! 18!!! you stupid fuxor... age does not AT ALL DETERMINE MATURITY. i H8te your fux idea and SH33tie sh33tie sh33t....

heh... you do know that was just a joke... right?
but i agree with BlaqWolf... im only 16 right now, but just like you I am annoyed by the less mature players... too bad there cant be some sort of maturity test on the internet... but i guess the 16-17 range can be alittle shaky on the maturity issue... but dont you think that aneyone could always lie about their age?

Hey this sounds like a great idea. Im an 18 yr old Aussie and while my forum antics may not be the most mature <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> i am all for encouraging decent behaviour and teamwork on ns servers.

On some servers i get comments like "Avtomat - we have another n00b here on aliens" because they know i will go and show that person around the game.

I would be thoroughly interested in something like this.

Sounds awesome, but I'm only 13. Kind of frustrating when people judge your maturity by age. This sounds to me like a tag of respect; you know you can count on this player to carry out his orders as a Marine and play properly abiding by all the rules. I already try to help new players along, and specifically hunt down llamas on the enemy team. You've piqued my interest, let me know if I'm eligible - I definitely fit into the serious player category. One thing, though, how would you stop people from simply forging the badge? Or using it along with exploits and immature behavoir. Looks like a job for the NS team to implement this.

On a side note - how about another tag to denote guerilla warfare (sneaking around, camping, setting up res nodes, bases behind enemy lines, etc.)?

Why not just extend the [OwP] from DoD over to NS. They stand for team work and fairplay.

Ummm there is already something like this. Its called ]NSF[ (Natural-Selection Forumers Guild).

They don't base on age and they don't care if you don't visit the forums. I had the website, but I lost it when I got a new computer. Maybe coil, comprox, or one of the other old (and active) forum members know.

I am proud to be a COFR Regular. If you aren't in a clan all that is needed is a decent server with lovable admins and people above the age of 8 =) . But good idea there on the non clan clan; hope it works out for you.

The CFOR server is great to play with regulars and the admins do an outstanding job. The games are always decent. Too bad It almost always full and I dont have a reserve slot <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> .

[FACT] - if i saw a gorge in real life, i would scream, panic, and run in the oposite direction, i highly doubt that anyone would say " oh its so cute! " - ever see any alien movies? thats the way it always starts, awee he is so cute!, then sudenly BOOM, sprays acidic webbing in your face you scream in terror as like he bites you over and over and you cry like a girl and tell your friend ( who is just watching in terror ) to scream and run in the oposite direction, but when he turns to run, a skulk drops down and eats him and like your still being mauled by a gumless gorge !!!!

Hmm, it's a great idea, but the tag might be better at the end of a player's name, so they can wear it in addition to their clan tags (like OWP in DoD), e.g. [QRGR]Souris (TSA-e)

If I had to guess, I would think that you could have a regular clan tag as well. I'm in a team right now, but it's just a casual group of friends with the same tag. {RaT}~

Count me in. Give me an [e] tag, 'cause that's what I do. This sounds like a terrific idea - and yeah, it's similar to the OWP from Day of Defeat (I was also a member of that once upon a time).

I'm an engineer in my final year of school - so I can sympathize with you Cpl Davis - work work work, and real life responsibility <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I find pub servers are full of questionables and that clan play is too demanding and stressful - I like to play my games <b>as games</b> thanks very much.

And also - everyone in this thread would love the TacticalGamer Natural Selection server. Their server is open to members only and membership criteria matches Cpl. Davis' ideals exactly. Check them out at their website: <a href='http://www.xlii.com' target='_blank'>Tactical Gamer - Network42</a>.

That is the only server I play on, and it's very, very good. NS the way it was meant to be played <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I would definatly like to joing this, too bad Im another guy who is only 16 (well soon enough).

I dont know if it really is fair to judge mutarity by age, I know a few who are 18-19 and are as much mature as my 11 years old younger brother.

Ah well I just hope you reconsider.
