Siege Attempt2

ok..heres my second attempt on the siege turret...
how the siege turret works....
The turret manipulates its gravitational field to induce a catastrophic effect – much like a sonic boom – that ignores intervening barriers and walls. The splash damage from this effect makes the siege especially effective against clusters of alien chambers..

have you tried decompiling the default siege, importing the ref (with the skeleton) and just re-assigning the verts? also make sure you use the bone definitions from the original .qc file, 'cause my bet is that the controllers are defined in there.

AAARRRGGGHH! it driving me nuts... the damn bone controller keeps disapearing...even on the original siege model.. i decompile the working model, then i compile it ,and the model wont work anymore...looks like milkshape eats the bonecontroller... ive checked the qc file

$scale 1.0

// 2 attachments
$attachment 0 "D_siege_barrel02" 0.000000 0.000000 27.000000
$attachment 1 "D_siege_barrel02" 0.000000 0.000000 -15.000000

// 2 bone controllers
$controller 0 "Dummy02" 0 360
$controller 1 "Dummy04_new" 0 0

controller 0 is there....
but after compiling the hlmodel viewer says : no bone controllers

btw...how long takes the siege to shoot? i mean the time between the shots

Hmm.... time between shots eh? I don't know exactly, but I think give or take 2-3 seconds.

• TyralionTyralion Join Date: 2002-11-21 Member: 9522Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Surge, as long as sheena puts the credits in the readme it's not necessary to give credits on the WIP-pictures that were shown.

That's one bigass cannon sheena. I'd love to see it released, so I hope you figure that bone thingy out.

Because of comments like this. They're all thinking you did the work. And who looks at Readme's that closely? It's your job to find the creator and ask him, not for the creator to find you and reprimand you.

And yes you made it sound a lot like you had done the work.... whether you included credit in this readme or not... you never relased any zips which contain this aforementioned readme and it's very easy for people to think you made the model all by yourself. And yes... asking original authors of models is the right thing to do.

aaarrhh whats up with you guys? i never said ive done the models..
and in my bolter zip are credits for scarecrow who have done the model..

why should i put credits to something thats just a result of my sick mind... something that noone ever will be able to youse.. that are just pics.. so many ppls posting pics of hackjobs without credits... just guns who are found on the net..with a scope slammed on it..
i found those models in the q3 directory of my bf´s computer.. i liked them..dunno who have maked them.. ive just started to play around with them and makin a turet out of them ---> ive makin a turet... not the models ok?
• TyralionTyralion Join Date: 2002-11-21 Member: 9522Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Guys, relax!?

She didn't even release anything, so giving credits for showing a hackjob isn't really necessary, is it?
And she never inclined that she had created the models.

If she would release it, I'm sure she would give credit where credit is due.

*ahem* Surge, you've been around here long enough, I think, to at least remember that Sheena is a female Japanese name, no? Not to mention that she's said about a dozen times she can't model low-poly. Remember the whole orgy that was started when it came out that she designs high-poly concept stuff for Tokyo Marui, is cute and female to boot? That was what, two months ago?

And do you go hounding anyone else that posts MWIP stuff of their conversions if they don't immediately say who did the originals?

Here's a trivia question, see if you can answer it without looking at the original thread: who made the WH40K player models I originally did a crap job of converting?

That's right. I don't remember either.

Don't jump down her throat just because people make assumptions. Hell, English isn't her native language. She's Japanese. Maybe she was mistaken in expecting people to remember someone who's been giving consistently to this community since the damned game came out! Oh, gee, burn her on a stake because you've got pretty much **** for memory.

Yeah, she was the one who had that avatar all you kids were drooling over because, ou, wow, it was actually her and she's pretty much sexier than your moms, and she knows more about guns than you, plays games, has a better knowledge of history, works for Tokyo Marui, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, right? Remember that?

Who the hell else finds as many rare reference pics as Sheena does, no matter who asks for them, or for what reason? She's done nothing but be helpful. And, hell, she's even investing in some of the stuff I stopped doing, so you, you ****, could still have your bloody custom crap to pwn with!

What the hell's your damned problem, jumping on her because, ou, wow, she uses ReadMe files if and when she actually releases something?! Don't blame her for your own laziness or foul mood, kid.

Gimme-gimme-gimme! You don't even have enough respect to remember who's been giving you stuff on a silver platter for months!

Suck it up. You probably won't be getting anything released out of her anymore now either. All she was trying to do is help! Good move, jerk-off.

SHE WASN'T DONE WITH THE DAMNED THING! NOT READY TO RELEASE! UNTIL SHE'S DONE, SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO REMIND YOU ALL OF WHO SHE IS IF YOU CAN'T BLOODY REMEMBER FOR YOUR OWN DAMNED SELVES!

And don't bother getting all defensive about why you're perfectly justified in riding her to make yourself feel somehow important, punk. You aren't. Drop it and get a clue.

That's right. Pwned.

it's not just about asking credit... if one would release something like this they should also REALLY ask the original author (Harlequin) for permission to do the conversion. It's not polite to take someone's work without their permission, whether credits are given or not only part of the issue. A lot of people seem to be hopping on their heels for this model and it shouldn't be released without proper respects given to the original authors... respect being both the admittance of who made the original model AND asking for their permission. I'm tired of these half-baked excuses people come up with, thinking "oh I've included it in my readme, that's enough to go on". This isn't directed and Sheena specifically, it's a general complaint about the NS modlling community... and their lack of respect for real modellers in many casts

don't mis-quote me...

have i ever said that because of this model i want to bear sheena's children?

did she ever say that it was her creation?

could there be more going on behind the scenes that you don't know about?

is there a reason for you to flip out?

will you and road ever stop batteling for "credits" to be given on EVERY screenshot?
on a second point on that one.... i don't hear you guys screaming about who created the map, the code, the game, or any of that stuff... maybe your tooting the wrong horn?

Wolf, I've been here longer than you, meaning I should already be in the right, but I'll explain myself.

You see, I get **** because she didn't give credit. It's simple as that. It doesn't matter if you release or not. Always give credit, and ask for permission. Majority != win, on these forums. Just because 50 people are wrong doesn't mean it's right. If everyone on this forum told me that you could just convert models without asking permission, they'd still be wrong.

Also Wolf, is it necessary to always give an excuse when she tries to apologize and I continue? "OMG Her second language is English." I don't care. If she doesn't understand me, get a damn dictionary. I'm not going to learn Japanese just so I can talk to one person, ****.

And don't ever... ever.... ever flame me again, you sh*tpipe.

Oh no! What will I ever do? No models to take up space and stop me from joining servers with consistency! Oh no! For your info, Mr. You're-All-Racists, I've never used any of "Sheena's" models before, nor will I ever. I have never used custom models at all, for that matter. So before you start stereotyping or jumping to conclusions, I suggest you think for a second before spouting, or you'll force me to do the same.

You are ****. You have nothing on me. I am right. You are wrong. Now bug off before I get angry.

I think that set-in-stone credits don't have to be religiously given out at wip threads, but make sure everyone is clear that it's a hackjob, and where you got some of the parts from.

If its a release, however - you should always credit every single part, down to the very last screw
