ive played, all missilecommands, all sieges, lost, ciliris (or whatever the spelling is), the mach maps, and pretty much everything that pops up on joe.to's server and thats on the mayberry games site. just looking for some new customs.

Alot of them are released already, or at least in the beta stages, so you might want to search around the forums for that.
Pulling a close second is ns_europa, which is a visually beautiful map. However it's layout suffers from a MAJOR gameplay flaw. There is one room that should the marines take it, they can seige every hive on the map <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
As for the misslecommands and seige maps, well, they are kind of amusing, but much like any simple custom map, get very old very fast.
That needn?t be a flaw in the map. It adds a new dynamic. That becomes the absolutely most valuble spot on the map for the aliens to protect and for the marines to take. It certainly may be a flaw, but if the map is designed for that type of gameplay then don't write it off so quickly.
I love europa, I dont even bother with the 3 hive spot, you can take cargo with 1 turret fac thats IN your base. I think if the map were stretched out maybe 50% larger i'd be great.
Greian_Beta is a pretty cool map, but it lacks a good vent system.
11th hour is cool, and a fades paradise for blink, but its pretty hard for aliens.

as for lost, isnt that becomming an official map for 1.1?
The only custom map I've played is Europa. I don't really know the layout, and the space under the marine spawn is kinda annoying, and the marine spawn is a bit too small in general, but other than that, I had lots of fun on all the games I played on it. And it looks pretty nice, too. I suppose whenever I have some actual free time I'll check out how Lost plays.

Europa is a SMALL map - its about 1/3 the area of caged for example. Obviously, it must have been designed before sieges could shoot through walls, because the map is shock-full of double siege points, not to mention that one of the hives can be sieged from the room outside the marine base.
Basically, ns_europa requires the marines to NOT build sieges for it to be playable.
Personally the best custom maps that have been released(in no special order) are:
lost
atomic mass
trane
europa
andromeda
These maps are very good...Andromeda is particularily interesting as the entity problem has made several advances for the better on the map.
