Personal Tastes Vary?

Dont they?
I myself prefer NS equal to BF1942, then FA then CS then TFC as it stands now. And you. I hope this does not seem to be mindless dribble. Just seems as though this game supports a great variety of minds and views. Variety is after all the spice of life is it not? We seem to dwell in one realm sometimes and ignore the fact we are creatures of choas and difference with perceptions that can often be misinterpreted and viewed in a manner not condusive to true civilized and social behavior. (/me swigs another)

tried AO a LONG time ago when it first had its public release (god that was horrable, so many bugs) has it become better then kill leet, kill leet, level up type deal?

anyway, NS first (duh)

then TFC (i have rediscovered how much fun it is)

used to play CS and Dod when i was waiting for NS

Rainbow 6 = my most favorte game EVER (i pwned at MP)

Empire earth wasnt that good, i followed it for about 6 months before it was released, i play it every now and then when the internet dies on meh NS

they killed Firearms for me with 2.6

MoH:AA sucks, to much death match

Age of empires seires PWNED HARD!!!! (never played rise of rome for Aoe1 though)

used to play WW2 Online before it when to pay for play (wish i wasnt so poor) i try the re-evaluation programs and it looks wonderful (www.wwiionline.com if intrested)

operation flashpoints mission editor is fun, but MP is just to slow

never played BF1942 but everyone says that even though the system req are stiff, its really fun (is there like a realism mod out there for it, that rocket jumpping turns me off)?

FLF - NS tie. both of them are original and very very fun.
Quake 3
Soldier of Fortune 1

tates vary yes, but if you like FPS and RTS (Total Annihilation is my favorite game ever) then you will like NS. Even if you like one and not the other you will be happy with it.

Tribes 1 was the best game I've ever played. NS is pretty damn fun too.

Action Half Life.

You want to get good melee skill? Try Kung Fuing a diving guy, while he Mp5 spams you, and dodging their snipers all at the same time.

I play a few rounds before NS, and I can see the difference.

Right now, I stick to DoD more than I do to NS, mostly because I'm in a clan and have been for the past year. NS is right behind it though, since it is such a great game. After comes BF1942 and Desert Combat (one of the mods for it). Then after that comes Combat Flight sim 3 and Flight Sim 2002

I only have two games installed.

Half-Life for NS, and Quake 2 for Gloom. If you've not tried Gloom, you must play it if you enjoy NS. They're very similar but Gloom is faster paced. A ton of fun.

I think part of what makes me laugh, is how people can like similar things but be so different in how they pursue it. I think a lot of couples get married because they share similar interests, but then find out that they are still 2 very different people and end up divorced.

(example... flamewars)

When reading posts many are quick to point out faults and react emotionally instead of taking the time to think their answers out in a calm rational manner. A well thought out answer or initial post creates a better
overall community. I myself am guilty of mindless replies. Say what you must but never let emotion be the motivation behind it, or else you are animal and not human. Hehe I am insane.

On another note Master of Orion 3 hits shelves today at EB should I return this unimpressive C & C Generals and get it?

Obvious thing of personal taste there then.

C&C:Generals is the first one in that series after the first I've actually liked.

Bizarre.

I enjoyed DoD for a while, but NS took it's place very quickly. Before these I played Everquest for 3 years and before that, the age of empires series up to the conquerers expansion (mayans rule!)

I rather enjoyed playing the first C&C, but looking back on it now, it was only the novelty of it. Having not played a game like that before, when put into perspective, it wasn't really much of a strategy game.

WC3 gave me a sharp boot towards reality as far as RTS's are concerned.

Not played C&C generals, should probably give it a try.

well i've been playing DoD almost non-stop for a LONG time. longer than i have with any other game. of course when i buy a new game, i'll play it until i beat it, then go back to DoD.

as of right now, i've been playing NS a lot more than DoD. but im still new to it. once the novelty wares off, i don't know which i'll be playing more.

I like NS over CS by far, used to be a big time CSer but havn't played now in over 2 years. bf1942 rocks, I love the gameplay. Give C&C generals a blast, it's a really fun game. Prepare your system though; generals eats lower end systems for breakfast.

Half-Life... the best bang for your gaming buck in the history of first-person shooters. Too bad the engine's starting to look so dated. Good artists can only do so much with wooden blocks and elmer's glue.

Maybe UT will inherit the love of modders and give us new generations of genius like Natural Selection, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, and Team Fortress Classic. I just can't justify spending $50 bucks on BF or even UT until they come close to catching up to the Master.

i totally agree with crazed-one. on our server, we get them all. intelligent college kids, retarded college kids, heavy drinking college kids(isnt that all college kids?), ummmm....****, all we got is alot of college kids, like myself. OK OK, we do have some high schoolers too.

but anyway, all kidding aside, you are right. there are alot of different strats and ways to play the game. makes it fun. i like playing with all sorts of people from different parts of the country, of different ages, of different points of view.

I just surf the new mod releases. I was playing NS a lot, but then I tried out the new 1.4 GangWars, and now I'm playing mostly DoD, and am awaiting the next release of FireArms, and whatever else comes around (Desert Crises looks neat, as does Hostile Intent). Once NS 1.1 comes out i'm sure I'll be playing that non-stop again.

Funny, I hated WC3.

Great single player, fun LAN multi.

I don't think any mod is going to be quite so unique and interesting (nor as CPU demanding) as NS is...

I think for me my favorite online gaming has been:

1. Infantry
2. Barren Realms Elite over BBS
3. Firearms RC 2.5
4. Day of Defeat
5. Natural Selection (It's edging it's way up the list)

BTW, I personally didn't like BF1942, I started up the demo and the first thing that slapped me in the face was "Where's the Garand??". It just seems too non-realistic and arcadeish for my tastes.

hmm games i play is

1. Islands of Myth (a mud)
1,2 NS
2. Splinter cell

and i love game like the old Elite, the real old Stronghold (the AD&D stronghold) and game like that.
problem is that there is allways something missing in the games, that may be a lack of multiplaying, the ability to buy shops/mines (thinking of space sims here), mayby it need to support mods because of a great engine and so on, you get the drift.

hmm now i cant finde anytthing else to say so i stop now

WC3? dont tell me you play a blizzard rts.... blizzard rts are all the same. mass one unit as fast as you can and attack. wow. how fun. why dont you play a real RTs like Total Annihilation. its cheap to buy and a lot more fun than a blizzard game...

Oh my! An intelligent post in the General forum! Perhaps there is some hope left for this forum. :)

I'm glad some people do realise that when it comes to which games are good and which games are bad, it is all 100% opinion, and that its OKAY for people to have different opinions. Otherwise we'd all be eating the same flavor of ice cream right?

Right now, I obviously play a lot of NS...no game has sucked up so much of my time since the early, early days of CS (beta 3.something), back before there were aimbots and annoying 12-year olds. Now I don't even have CS installed. BF 1942 is an amazing game, right behind NS in my book. For people who complain about the lack of realism, yeah, that's a fair complaint, but the fact is the game is unbelievably fun and accessible. The planes are amazingly fun to fly. After that, I've been playing some SimGolf (a frighteningly fun game), the KungFu mod for Max Payne, Freedom Force (a truly fun game, nothing like creating your own superheros), and I recently reinstalled Total Annihilation, the greatest RTS ever made (and yes, I've played StarCraft, WC3, and the older C&Cs). I do want to give C&C: Generals a try, I've heard some good things about it. Anyhow, the point of this post is to say that even though all of those games were made by full-time developers for major companies, Natural Selection trumps them all!
